At project completion, NGGDPP grant recipients and USGS Centers and Programs must prepare and submit metadata records that describe preserved collections and samples (items). The metadata must be formatted according to the NGGDPP metadata schema, which includes description, location, dates, and access information for the preserved materials. The metadata format is intended to provide sufficient information to enable researchers and other users to find and access the materials. A guide and example files are available via the links below:
Metadata Preparation
The items or samples comprising a collection are documented following a metadata template. Item/sample metadata uploaded to ReSciColl may be described by 19 metadata elements, 7 of which are mandatory. Metadata providers may submit XLSX- or CSV-formatted files.

Metadata Submission
To submit a CSV or XLSX file containing metadata describing collection items/samples, please visit the “Item Management” section on the ReSciColl home page, in order to select the relevant collection.
