One major earthquake (7.0≤M<8.0) occurred during this reporting period, the first two months of 993. this major earthquake, a magnitude 7.5 in Japan on January 15, was one of the four earthquakes during the period to cause fatalities. The other quakes that caused fatalities occurred in South Africa, China, and Jamaica.

No damaging earthquakes occurred in the United States during this period.
