USGS ISO Content Specifications
September 17, 2019
A repository for USGS ISO metadata content specifications. Content specifications define documentation requirements for various USGS data and software products. These specs are used to guide authors in developing robust standardized metadata using the ISO 19115 suite of metadata standards. The repository is used for development, testing and implementation of content spec modules. It contains guidance documentation for developing content specs, requirements documents produced by work groups, mdspec JSON files that provide structured documentation of requirements and elemental mappings to mdJSON schemas. The repository may also contain module implementation schemas and user profiles for use by the mdEditor metadata editor tool. The profiles customize the user interface according to applied content spec modules. The schemas provide content validation and enforcement.
