Alek Hernes
(He/Him)I graduated with my degree in computer science from UC Davis in December of 2023 and began working at CAWSC in June, 2024. I have worked on a broad range of computer related projects, from web development to artificial intelligence and machine learning, but I love exploring the integration between code and the physical sciences and the ways it can be used to empower the scientific process.
At CAWSC I’m working with the BGC on aggregating and mapping bay area flowthrough data from the Peterson project, and hope to bring my talents to many other projects too.
Before coming to USGS I worked as a data analyst on a study at UC Davis looking at the feasibility of groundwater aquifer recharge (EAR/MAR) using high magnitude stream flows across the continental United States.
