Geoffrey Delin
Geoffrey Delin is a Emeritus Hydrologist with the USGS Water Resources Mission Area.
I am a Groundwater Specialist on the Water Science Field Team covering the Central part of the United States, including the USGS Southwest Region and the western half of the Midwest Region. I began my USGS career in the Minnesota Water Science Center in 1979 as a hydrologic technician. As a hydrologist I conducted numerous groundwater quantity and quality investigations on glacial and bedrock aquifers and frequently used groundwater flow and transport models. As a research hydrologist in recent years I evaluated the fate and transport of agricultural chemicals through unsaturated and saturated deposits, developed and evaluated methods for estimating groundwater recharge, evaluated the effects of recharge on crude-oil dissolution, and researched vapor-phase transport of volatile hydrocarbons. Before joining the USGS Water Discipline, I worked as a professional geologist for an engineering consulting firm in Minnesota for two years.
