Jessi Ayers
(She/her/them)Jessica Ayers is a Physical Scientist in the Water Resources Mission Area. Her research is focused on understanding hydrologic change and interactions between groundwater and surface water.
Jessi received her BS degree in Environmental Science from Indiana University where she first became interested in hydrologic research. She obtained her PhD in Civil and Environmental Engineering from the University of Iowa. Her PhD dissertation focused on baseflow trend detection, factors driving trends, and projected changes from climate and agricultural scenarios. She then worked as a postdoc at UC Berkeley where her work informed environmental flow practices and guided efforts to monitor, manage, and conserve freshwater ecosystems. Her overarching goal as a researcher is to communicate and apply research in a way that impacts local communities and secures water supply for the future.
