Moussa Guira
Moussa Guira is a Hydrologist for the U.S. Geological Survey Nebraska Water Science Center in Lincoln, Nebraska.
Moussa has worked for the U.S. Geological Survey since May 2016. He received a master’s degree in Hydrogeology with a focus on groundwater modeling from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 2018 and a bachelor’s degree in environmental geology from the University of Nebraska-Omaha in 2014. Prior to embracing the field of geosciences, Moussa received a bachelor’s degree in biochemistry from the University of Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso (West Africa). Moussa works with the USGS NE-WSC as Hydrologist who focuses on groundwater flow modeling; a process that includes conceptual design, model development, and calibration using state-of-the-art software and tools primarily developed by the USGS. The models are used by water resources management to better understand the interaction between surface water and groundwater, assess water availability for agricultural and municipal uses, and answer questions regarding future water availability based on forecasted water use, land use, and climate scenarios.
