Estuarine vegetated wetland change scenarios for estuaries in the conterminous United States, 1996–2019

This data release contains land cover-derived statistics regarding estuarine vegetated wetland area change within estuary drainage areas along the conterminous U.S. This dataset includes net change in estuarine vegetated wetland area based on National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's (NOAA) Coastal Change Assessment Program (C-CAP) 1996 and 2016 land cover data. Net change was assessed bet

Louisiana Outer Coast Restoration Project – 2022 habitat map, North Breton Island

This data release includes 2022 data for the Louisiana Outer Coast Restoration Project for North Breton Island. Specifically, this data release includes a detailed habitat map, general habitat map, georeferenced imagery, and a bare-earth digital elevation model (DEM) developed from light detection and ranging data. These habitat maps are developed using the methods and classification scheme from L

Oceanographic conditions at Richardson reef reveal new suitable habitat for cold-water corals

Cold-water corals create complex structures, but our incomplete knowledge of their niche space limits our ability to understand their distribution and therefore the impact of the ecosystem services they provide in the ocean. The Richardson reef complex consists of over 150 km of linear reef tracts within an area of 75 km2 between 700-900 m depth. This reef experiences rapid shifts in temperature,

Stable isotope data for sea turtles and prey items in St. Joseph Bay, FL (2011-2021) and comprehensive summary of sea turtle diet papers

1. This stable isotope dataset includes the carbon and nitrogen values for loggerhead, Kemp's ridley, green sea turtles and their prey items in St. Joseph Bay, FL sampled between 2011 and 2021. 2. This dataset was created from a collection of sea turtle diet papers to produce a comprehensive summary of sea turtle diet based on scientific publications for loggerhead, Kemp's ridley and green turtles

Data Release: Buttonland Swamp, seed data

This dataset contains canopy measurements of Taxodium distichum taken outside of the Wetland and Aquatic Research Center in Lafayette, Louisiana. The measurements were used to produce data on tree canopy area and seeds produced per Taxodium distichum tree.

Data Release: Buttonland Swamp, population projection

This dataset is part of a population model of Buttonland Swamp in the Cache River Watershed of Illinois. The modeling spans three decades of data from 1990 to 2021. This dataset is used to compare regeneration of Taxodium distichum along a moisture gradient of drier to wetter: Section 8 Woods (2006-2011), Crawford Tract mid-elevation, Eagle Pond, Deer Pond, Wildcat Bluff, Snake Hole, Crawford Trac

Data Release: Buttonland Swamp, health survey, 2022

This dataset contains tree health information in 2022 for ten trees in Buttonland Swamp, part of the Cache River Watershed in Illinois. The data includes the height of the trees along with their crown ratio. This allows an understanding of the size and canopy health of Buttonland Swamp cypress trees. A Munsell color chart was utilized in determining leaf color. Leaf color tells whether the trees a

Data Release: Buttonland Swamp, reproduction, 2006 to 2021

This dataset represents annual reproductive litterfall collections and seedling data from Crawford Tract, Eagle Pond, Section 8 Woods, Deer Pond, Wildcat Bluff, Snake Hole, and Heron Pond from 2006 to 2021. These sites are part of the study location, Buttonland Swamp, within the Cache River Watershed, Illinois. Summer and winter water depths were also included in the dataset.

Coastwide Reference Monitoring System (CRMS) 2005, 2008, 2012, 2015/2016, 2018, and 2021 land-water matrices, Central Louisiana

Wetland restoration efforts conducted by the Coastal Wetlands Planning, Protection and Restoration Act (CWPPRA) in Louisiana rely on monitoring to determine the efficacy of these projects. The Coastwide Reference Monitoring System (CRMS) was developed to assist in a multiple-reference approach that uses aspects of hydrogeomorphic functional assessments and probabilistic sampling for monitoring. Th

Ecological Model Support for the Western Everglades Restoration Project (WERP) Round Five, 2023

Ecological models facilitate evaluation of alternative approaches to restore the Greater Everglades ecosystem. However, the provision of useful and accessible models is a challenge because there is often a disconnect between model output and its use by decision makers. Joint Ecosystem Modeling (JEM) meets this challenge by providing ecological model output tailored to management decisions. Ecologi

Stable isotope values for Dry Tortugas nesting loggerheads sampled 2013-2018

We used a combination of stable isotope analysis of carbon and nitrogen values in nesting loggerhead sea turtle samples to describe the foraging area used by each turtle. Here we present the stable isotope values for United States Geological Survey (USGS) turtles sampled in the remote Dry Tortugas National Park, south Florida, and their assigned foraging area.
