The Peer Support Worker Program was created to promote awareness and provide outreach and education on topics and policies related to anti-harassment, discrimination, biases, and scientific integrity, and is led by the USGS Civility and Inclusion Council. Jessica (Jess) has been with USGS since 2017 and her main focus is using coral as a paleoclimate archive so she typically works in the office and lab. She is a part of the St. Petersburg Coastal & Marine Science Center’s DEIA Council and participates in the Pride Employee Resource Group. When not working, she enjoys spending time with her pets (3 dogs, 1 cat), going to the beach, skating, riding bikes, cooking, and baking.            

 

Georgia

         Debbie Gordon, Hydrologist, dwarner@usgs.gov, 470-433-3392. Debbie is a hydrologist and Outreach Coordinator with the South Atlantic Water Science Center in Norcross, GA. She has been with the USGS for over 30 years, primarily studying groundwater in southwest GA.

Lori Randall is a biologist at the Wetland and Aquatic Research Center in Lafayette, LA. She began her career at the Center in 1990 working for the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and transitioned to the USGS in 1996 following a reorganization within the Department of Interior. Since that time, she has worked as a support scientist on studies of bird-habitat relations that include the use of weather radar to determine landscape-scale habitat needs of migrating and wintering birds.  Lori became a PSW because it was an opportunity to work with colleagues and promote a positive and rewarding workplace.

 

Texas

Kelvey Merrill is a Hydrologic Technician with the Oklahoma-Texas Water Science Center and has been with the USGS since 2015. Her primary focus is on surface water data collection, streamgage measurements and data analysis. She is passionate about being a part of growing the PSW program and fostering a more inclusive, positive and diverse workplace in her science center and the USGS.
