Hydrology of area 2, Eastern Coal Province, Pennsylvania and New York
Provisions of the Surface Mining Control and Reclamation Act of 1977 recognized a nationwide need for hydrologic information in mined and potentially mined areas. This report is designed to be useful to mine owners, operators, regulatory authorities, citizens groups, and others by presenting information on existing hydrologic conditions and by identifying additional sources of hydrologic informati

Drainage-area data for Wisconsin streams
Drainage areas were determined for more than 7,000 sites in Wisconsin's 11 major river basins, including all named streams draining 5 or more square miles, and all unnamed streams draining 10 or more square miles. Also determined are drainage areas for gaging stations, sewage-treatment plants, dams, major highway crossings, and other sites where discharge measurements or water-quality data are ava

Geophysical and geologic studies in southern Mecklenburg County and vicinity, North Carolina and South Carolina
Geophysical methods consisting of gravity, aeromagnetics and aeroradioactivity have been applied to part of the Charlotte and Carolina slate belts in southern Mecklenburg County and vicinity to help interpret geology, lithology and structure. High aeroradioactivity is associated with potassium-rich granitic plutons, muscovite-rich gneisses, schists, and metavolcanic rocks; positive gravity and mag

Degradation of phenolic contaminants in ground water by anaerobic bacteria: St. Louis Park, Minnesota
Coal-tar derivatives from a coal-tar distillation and wood-treating plant that operated from 1918 to 1972 at St. Louis Park, Minnesota contaminated the near-surface ground water. Solutions of phenolic compounds and a water-immiscible mixture of polynuclear aromatic compounds accumulated in wetlands near the plant site and entered the aquifer. The concentration of phenolic compounds in the aqueous
