Mixtures of dissolved pesticides in 100 streams in the Midwestern U.S., 2013

Dissolved pesticides were measured in weekly water samples from 100 freshwater streams across eleven states in the Midwestern U.S. during May-August, 2013. A total of 182 pesticide compounds (94 pesticides and 88 degradates) were detected, with a median of 25 compounds detected per sample and 54 detected per site. Potential aquatic toxicity was evaluated using the Pesticide Toxicity Index and by c

Reproductive strategy, spawning induction, spawning temperatures and early life history of captive sicklefin chub Macrhybopsis meeki-Data

Macrhybopsis reproduction and propagule traits were studied in the laboratory using two temperature regimes and three hormone treatments and which methods produced the most spawns. Only sicklefin chub (M. meeki) spawned successfully although sturgeon chub (M. gelida) released unfertilized eggs. All temperature and hormone treatments produced M. meeki spawns, but two treatments had similar success

Cottonwood Lake Study Area - Digital Elevation Model with Topobathy

This dataset contains a bare earth DEM, with a 0.5-square-meter (m2) cell size, of the Cottonwood Lake Study Area, Stutsman County, North Dakota. The digital elevation model (DEM) was based primarily on airborne lidar data acquired by Fugro Horizons of Rapid City, South Dakota., and made into a DEM by USGS personnel using the ArcGIS extension LP360 (QCoherent Software, 2013). Additional DEM proces

Cottonwood Lake Study Area - Wetland Vegetation Zone Spatial Data

Spatial polygons of vegetation zones for wetlands within the Cottonwood Lake Study Area, Stutsman County, North Dakota. Created from a collection of digital orthorectified images from aerial photographs of the study area.

Time-Domain Electromagnetic Data Used in the Assessment of the U.S. Part of the Mesilla Basin/Conejos-Mdanos Aquifer System in Doa Ana County, New Mexico, and El Paso County, Texas

The transboundary Mesilla Basin/Conejos-Mdanos aquifer system was identified as one of the priority transboundary aquifer systems for additional study by the United States and Mexico U.S.-Mexico Transboundary Aquifer Assessment Act of 2006. One of the largest rechargeable groundwater systems by total available volume in the Rio Grande/Rio Bravo del Norte Basin region of the United States and Mexic

Lionfish (Pterois sp.) invade the upper bathyal zone in the western Atlantic

Invasive lionfish have been widely recorded throughout the western Atlantic on both shallow and mesophotic reefs, where they have been linked to declines in reef health. In this study we report the first lionfish observations from the deep sea (>200 m) in Bermuda and Roatan, Honduras, with lionfish observed to a maximum depth of 304 m off the Bermuda platform, and 250 m off West End, Roatan. Data Pertaining to Mapping the Approximate Inland Extent of Saltwater at the Base of the Biscayne Aquifer in the Model Land Area of Miami-Dade County, Florida, 2016

Data pertaining to mapping the approximate inland extent of saltwater at the base of the Biscayne Aquifer in the Model Land Area of Miami-Dade County, Florida in 2016. The inland extent of saltwater at the base of the Biscayne aquifer in the Model Land area of Miami-Dade County, Florida, was last mapped in 2011. Since that time, the saltwater interface has continued to move inland. The interface i

Repeated drought alters resilience of seed bank regeneration in Taxodium distichum swamps of North America

Recurring drying and wetting events are likely to increase in frequency and intensity in predicted future droughts in the central United States and alter the regeneration potential of species. We explored the resistance of seed banks to successive droughts in 53 sites across the nine locations in baldcypress swamps in the southeastern United States. Along the Mississippi River Alluvial Valley and
