Sediment Transport Data from the Totatlanika River, Alaska, August 2021

This data package provides four datasets acquired for the purpose of quantifying parameters affecting sediment trasport along the Totatlanika River, which drains the minerally endowed and tectonically active northern Alaska Range. The datasets provide measures of: (1) channel geometry, (2) boulders, (3) sediment grains size, and (4) water flow. The data can be used to understand sediment transport

Age-0 Sablefish Size and Growth Indices from Seabird Diets at Middleton Island, Alaska

This dataset provides annual summaries of information on age-0 sablefish in Rhinoceros Auklet (Cerorhinca monocerata) chick diets from Middleton Island, Alaska. This includes number of diet samples, number of sablefish sampled, proportion of total biomass, catch per unit effort, and frequency of occurrence for each year. We calculated an annual growth index for age-0 sablefish using the relation

Data from Black Brant (Branta bernicla nigricans) Overwintering in Three Lagoons Along the Baja California Peninsula, Mexico

This data package includes two child items with data from Pacific Black Brant (Branta bernicla nigricans) during winter and migration periods. Child Item One: "Body mass, Morphological Measurements, Flock Counts, and Age-Ratios from Black Brant Overwintering in Three Lagoons Along the Baja California Peninsula, Mexico". The data include: (1) body mass and morphological measurements from sport hun

An inventory of subsurface geologic data: structure contour and isopach datasets

Under the direction and funding of the National Cooperative Mapping Program with guidance and encouragement from the United States Geological Survey (USGS), a digital database of three-dimensional (3D) vector data, displayed as two-dimensional (2D) data-extent bounding polygons. This geodatabase is to act as a virtual and digital inventory of 3D structure contour and isopach vector data for the US

Nitrogen, phosphorus, and suspended-sediment loads and trends measured at the Chesapeake Bay River Input Monitoring stations: Water years 1985-2022

Nitrogen, phosphorus, and suspended-sediment loads, and changes in loads, in major rivers across the Chesapeake Bay watershed have been calculated using monitoring data from the Chesapeake Bay River Input Monitoring (RIM) Network stations for the period 1985 through 2022. Nutrient and suspended-sediment loads and changes in loads were determined by applying a weighted regression approach called WR

Pacific Walrus Coastal Haulout Images from Remote Cameras

This data package contains digital photos of a walrus haulout location at Cape Greig, on the Alaska Peninsula summer 2023. Photos were taken up to three times daily from a remotely operated camera located on a bluff above the haulout. The camera was installed in the early spring 2023, prior to arrival of walruses at the site. Images were transferred via satellite link.

Fundamental Datasets for Wyoming StreamStats

This data release was produced by the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) in cooperation with the Wyoming Water Development Office for the purpose of delineating gage basins and performing hydrologic analysis in the Wyoming StreamStats application. These datasets are raster representations of the fundamental dataset layers necessary for the functionality of StreamStats application within the Wyoming Str

Basin Characteristic Datasets for Wyoming StreamStats

This data release was produced by the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) in cooperation with the Wyoming Water Development Office for the purpose of calculating basin characteristics in preparation for the Wyoming StreamStats application. The data are parameter grid representations of various environmental, geological, and land use attributes within the Wyoming StreamStats study area and will be served

Horizontal-to-Vertical Spectral Ratio Soundings and Depth-to-Bedrock Data for New York City and Long Island, NY

From March 2019 to September 2020, the U.S. Geological Survey, in cooperation with the New York City Department of Design and Construction and the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation, collected horizontal-to-vertical seismic (HVSR) surveys at 140 locations in New York, Bronx, Queens, Nassau, and Suffolk counties to estimate the thickness of unconsolidated sediments and the dept

Geospatial Data for Bedrock Elevation and Overburden Thickness Maps of the Five Boroughs, New York City, New York

Using a combination of public and proprietary historical construction test borings, recent exploration drilling, USGS observation wells, outcrops, and seismic measurements, a series of geospatial overlays for bedrock elevation and overburden thickness were created for the Five Boroughs of New York City, New York. Rasters were interpolated from a point elevation data set and refined using published

Continuous Marine Seismic-Reflection Surveys and Derived Depth-to-Bedrock Point Data from the East River, New York City, New York

This data release contains data from five seismic-reflection surveys in New York’s East River between Governors Island and the Queensboro Bridge. Data are provided in the original proprietary data format, a SEGy data exchange format, and as a shape file of locations and depths to bedrock. Depths to bedrock were derived from the seismic signal travel time and an assumed speed of sound of 5,000 feet

Voucher and metagenetic sequencing of DNA barcodes of wild-collected bees (Apoidea) from Iowa, USA

High-throughput methods for identification of pollinator taxa are desirable to improve our understanding of pollinator distributions, population trends, and ecology. Genetic sequencing of taxonomically informative 'barcode' loci is one high-throughput strategy, which can be applied to individual specimens using Sanger technology and to complex mixtures using metabarcoding technology.
