Data Releases

The data collected and the techniques used by USGS scientists should conform to or reference national and international standards and protocols if they exist and when they are relevant and appropriate. For datasets of a given type, and if national or international metadata standards exist, the data are indexed with metadata that facilitates access and integration.

Soil, geomorphology and pre-European settlement vegetation associations of Southwest Louisiana

Defining the pre-European range of vegetation communities can enhance our understanding of the role soil, hydrology, and climate had on climax plant communities within southwest Louisiana. Coastal prairie grasslands were in a perpetual state of succession due to two primary disturbances; grazing, primarily by bison and other ungulates, and fires ignited by lightning and Native Americans. Along its

Titanium-vanadium deposits hosted in mafic-ultramafic layered intrusions and massif anorthosite intrusions from around the world

This data release includes four .csv files and one Esri shapefile which contain data on titanium-vanadium deposits hosted in mafic-ultramafic layered intrusions and massif anorthosite intrusions from around the world. Some of the data was used to create a grade and tonnage model for titanium-vanadium deposits hosted in mafic-ultramafic layered intrusions. Only deposits with reported grade and tonn

Fluid Inclusion Noble Gas Data From Goldfield and Tonopah Epithermal Au-Ag Deposits

Twenty-five ore and gangue mineral separates from the Miocene-age Goldfield and Tonopah epithermal Au-Ag deposits in southwestern Nevada were analyzed to determine the helium, neon, and argon (He, Ne, and Ar) isotopic compositions contained in fluid inclusions. Four mineral separates from the Butte Main Stage vein deposit and two from the Bingham pyrite-enargite vein deposits were also analyzed. F

Oregon OCS Seafloor Mapping: Selected Lease Blocks Relevant to Renewable Energy

This data release about Oregon Offshore Wind Pilot Project includes multibeam echosounder bathmetry and backscatter intensity data, and observations of seafloor substrate from a towed bottom video camera. The Offshore Wind Pilot Project was proposed by Principle Power, Inc, in May 2013. The proposed lease request is approximately 15 nautical miles offshore Coos Bay, Oregon with an area of approxim

Hydrologic Derivatives for Modeling and Applications (HDMA) Data

The Hydrologic Derivatives for Modeling and Analysis (HDMA) database provides comprehensive and consistent global coverage of raster and vector topographically derived layers. The HDMA includes five raster layers: digital elevation model (DEM) data, flow direction, flow accumulation, slope, and compound topographic index (CTI); and three vector layers: streams, catchment boundaries, and processing

Correlation Between Seismic-Reflection Profiles and Well Data, Broward County, FL

Synthetic seismograms provide a means to calibrate (groundtruth) seismic-reflection profiles to specific subsurface stratigraphic events observed in one-dimensional core and geophysical log data acquired from wells. Independently, Walker Marine Geophysical Company and Geokinetics Incorporated used velocity data from 13 borehole-compensated sonic logs as input for specialized geophysical software t

Shapefile of sampling sites for the assessment of groundwater quality at selected wells throughout Puerto Rico, December 2015 to November 2016

This U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) data release consists of a point shapefile with the location of the sites used in sampling program to assess the water quality at selected wells throughout Puerto Rico conducted by the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) in cooperation with the Puerto Rico Environmental Quality Board (PREQB) during December 2015 to November 2016.

Condition of Surgical Acoustic Tag Incisions in Recaptured Lake Erie Walleye (2011-2016)

Intracoelomic implantation of electronic tags has become a common method in fishery research, but rarely are fish examined by scientists after release to understand the extent that surgical incisions have healed. Walleye (Sander vitreus) are a valuable, highly-exploited fishery resource in the Laurentian Great Lakes. Here, fishery capture of walleye with internal acoustic transmitters combined wit

Principal facts of gravity data in the southern San Luis Basin, northern New Mexico

Gravity data were collected from 2006 through 2015 to assist in mapping subsurface geology in the southern San Luis Basin, northern New Mexico. This report gives principal facts for 567 new gravity stations that were acquired to fill in gaps in the public gravity data coverage.

Water level measurements collected in West Falmouth Harbor, MA, 2017

Water-level gauges were deployed at two sites in West Falmouth Harbor between April and June 2017. One gauge was mounted under the town-owned West Falmouth boat dock and the other on the private Associates dock near the mouth of the Harbor. The gauge at Associates dock supported two pressure sensors mounted in a stilling well to damp wave motions. The stilling wells were 4-inch diameter PVC tubes

Natural infections with Pigeon Paramyxovirus-1: Pathologic changes in Eurasian collared-doves (Streptopelia decaocto) and rock pigeons (Columba livia) in the USA: Data

We reviewed pathological findings and to a lesser extent epidemiological data from 70 free-ranging columbiforms naturally infected with Pigeon paramyxovirus-1 (PPMV-1) from 25 different PPMV-1 mortality events in columbiforms in the USA. In a subset of 17 birds from 10 of the studied outbreaks, we carried out immunohistochemistry targeting PPMV-1 nucleoprotein to determine the tissue distribution

Minisparker seismic-reflection data collected between Point Sur and Morro Bay, offshore of central California, from 2011-09-12 to 2011-09-26 (USGS field activity B-05-11-CC)

This data release includes marine geophysical data collected on cruise B-05-11-CC between Point Sur and Morro Bay, California. The overall goal of this research is to understand the shallow geologic framework of this area as a contribution to the California Seafloor Mapping Program (Johnson and others, 2017). Particular focus is on mapping active faults and documenting the distribution and thickne
