Data Releases

The data collected and the techniques used by USGS scientists should conform to or reference national and international standards and protocols if they exist and when they are relevant and appropriate. For datasets of a given type, and if national or international metadata standards exist, the data are indexed with metadata that facilitates access and integration.

Data for Radium Mobility and the Age of Groundwater in Public-drinking-water Supplies from the Cambrian-Ordovician Aquifer System, North-Central USA

High radium (Ra) concentrations in potable portions of the Cambrian-Ordovician (C-O) aquifer system were investigated using water-quality data and environmental tracers ( 3H, 3Hetrit, SF6 , 14C and 4Herad) of groundwater age from 80 public-supply wells (PSWs). Groundwater ages were estimated by calibration of tracers to lumped parameter models and ranged from modern (1 Myr) in the most downgradien

Post-wildfire debris-flow monitoring data, 2014 Silverado Fire, Orange County, California, November 2014 to January 2016

This data release includes time-series data from two monitoring stations in a small drainage basin burned in the 2014 Silverado Fire, Orange County, California. One station (upper station) is located in the headwaters of the study area (33 4539.10N, 117 3517.48W, WGS84). The other station (lower station) is located at the outlet of the study area (33 4504.61N, 117 3512.54W). The data were collecte

Micrometeorological and Soil-Moisture Data at the Amargosa Desert Research Site in Nye County near Beatty, Nevada, 20122016

This data release describes micrometeorological and soil-moisture data collected from January 1, 2012 through December 31, 2016 at the Amargosa Desert Research Site adjacent to a low-level radioactive waste and hazardous chemical waste facility near Beatty, Nevada. Micrometeorological data include precipitation, solar radiation, net radiation, air temperature, relative humidity, saturated and ambi

Data Release of Geologic Map of the Weldona 7.5' Quadrangle, Morgan County, Colorado

The Weldona 7.5' quadrangle is located on the semiarid plains of northeastern Colorado, along the South Platte River corridor where the river has incised into Upper Cretaceous Pierre Shale. The Pierre Shale is largely covered by surficial deposits that formed from alluvial, eolian, and hillslope processes operating in concert with environmental changes from the Pleistocene to the present. The Sout

Bias correction of Simulated Historical Daily Streamflow at Ungauged Locations Using Independently Estimated Flow-Duration Curves: Data Release

This dataset contains the observed and simulated streamflow used to produce the results of the journal article entitled Bias correction of Retrospective Simulation of Daily Streamflow at Ungauged Locations Using Independently Estimated Flow-Duration Curves . Observed streamflow, retrieved from the U.S. Geological Surveys National Water Information System (https://waterdata.usgs.gov/nwis) in Spring

Prey fish returned to Forsters tern colonies in South San Francisco Bay during 2005-2015

Prey fish were collected at 17 Forsters tern breeding colonies during colony visits from 2005-2015. Prey fish were identified to the lowest taxonomic category. We present relative abundances by colony and year for each of the 10 major species groups. Unidentified fish species or rarely observed species were combined into an Other category. We calculated an arithmetic mean, standard deviation (sd),

Reexamining silver (Hypophthalmichthys molitrix) and bighead (H. nobilis) carp hearing: Data

Silver and bighead carp frequency detection was evaluated in response to 100 Hz to 9 kHz using auditory evoked potentials (AEPs). AEPs, consisting of measured minimum Sound Pressure Levels (SPL; dB re 1 ms-2) and Particle Acceleration Thresholds (PAT; dB re 1 ms-2). SPL and PAT were recorded every 100 Hz from 100 Hz to 1000 Hz plus 1500, 2000, 3000, 4000, and 5000 Hz for five individual Silver Car

Breeding Bird Survey songbird occurrences during 1977-1979 and 2012-2014 in conterminous U.S.

Data used in: "Misleading prioritizations from modeling range shifts under climate change" by H.R. Sofaer, C.S. Jarnevich, and C.H. Flather. Breeding Bird Survey data (version 2014.0) for songbirds were summarized over historical (1977-1979) and recent (2012-2014) time periods at routes in the conterminous U.S. Avian occurrence data were combined with information on climate and land cover at each

Geodatabase supporting the assessment of hydrologic resources and the potential effects from oil and gas development in the Bureau of Land Management Tri-County Planning Area, Sierra, Doa Ana, and Otero Counties, New Mexico

This U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) data release presents the geospatial data used to assess the hydrologic resources and the potential effects from oil and gas development in the Bureau of Land Management Tri-County Planning Area, Sierra, Doa Ana, and Otero Counties, New Mexico. Publicly available data were used to assess these resources and effects and to identify data gaps in the Tri-County pla

Summary of dissolved pesticide concentrations in discrete surface-water samples collected on the islands of Kauai and Oahu between November 21, 2016 and April 29, 2017

The purpose of this release is to make available the quality-assured pesticide-concentration results for 32 discrete water samples that were collected on the islands of Kauaʻi and Oʻahu between November 21, 2016 and April 29, 2017. This webpage includes brief descriptions of the sampling sites, the samples collected, streamflow conditions during sampling, sample-collection and filtration methods,
