Data Releases

The data collected and the techniques used by USGS scientists should conform to or reference national and international standards and protocols if they exist and when they are relevant and appropriate. For datasets of a given type, and if national or international metadata standards exist, the data are indexed with metadata that facilitates access and integration.

Data Release for 2018 One-Year Seismic Hazard Forecast for the Central and Eastern United States from Induced and Natural Earthquakes

We produce the USGS 2018 one-year probabilistic seismic hazard forecast for the central and eastern United States from induced and natural earthquakes. For consistency, the updated 2018 forecast is developed using the same probabilistic seismicity-based methodology as applied in the two previous forecasts for 2016 and 2017. Rates of earthquakes across the U.S. (M ≥ 3.0) grew rapidly between 2008 a

Recent historical and projected (years 2006-99) areas (km2) of managed, flooded habitats used by waterbirds overwintering in Central Valley, California basins for 17 climate, urbanization, and water management scenarios

Matchett and Fleskes (2018) evaluated availability of wetland and agricultural habitats used by waterbirds overwintering in the Central Valley of California under 17 scenarios of projected climate, urbanization, and water supply management (for more information about scenarios see scenario description and Table 1 in Matchett and Fleskes [2018]). Central Valley waterbird habitats investigated in th

Geochemical and Modal Data for Mesoproterozoic Igneous Rocks of the St. Francois Mountains, Southeast Missouri

This data release accompanies the Data Series report 'Compilation of new and previously published geochemical and modal data for Mesoproterozoic igneous rocks of the St. Francois Mountains, southeast Missouri (https://doi.org/10.3133/ds1080). The compilation includes recently acquired as well as previously published geochemical and modal petrographic data for igneous rocks in the St. Francois Moun

Dataset for 2013 Creek Fire Research Points, Pre- and Post-Fire Data

The practice of fire suppression across the western United States over the past century has led to dense forests, and when coupled with drought has contributed to an increase in large and destructive wildfires. Forest management efforts aimed at reducing flammable fuels through various fuel treatments can help to restore frequent fire regimes and increase forest resilience. Our research examines h

Magnetotelluric sounding data, stations 1 to 25, north eastern Nevada, 2003

This dataset includes the magnetotelluric (MT) sounding data collected in 2003 along a north-south profile west of Wendover, Nevada. It is important to know whether major mining districts in the Northern Nevada Gold Province are underlain by rocks of the Archean Wyoming craton, which are known to contain orogenic gold deposits, or by accreted rocks of the Paleoproterozoic Mojave province. It is al

Chemistry analysis results for groundwater, soil-pore water, soil and plant material collected from two agricultural sites in the Nanticoke and Chester River watersheds on the Delmarva Peninsula from 2013 to 2016.

This metadata record documents 8 comma delimitated files that support the USGS Scientific Investigations Report 2018-5020 on field studies in the Bucks Branch watershed and the Andover Branch watershed. Data were collected from two fields at two locations and include: groundwater, soil water, soils and plant tissue chemistry. Data also include sulfur hexafluoride and dissolved gas concentrations u

Pedestrian tsunami evacuation results for two tsunami-evacuation zones (standard and extreme) and three travel speeds (impaired, slow, and fast walk) for O'ahu, HI

This data release is comprised of a set of six time travel map shapefiles (two tsunami evacuation zones and three travel times) and three population exposure by travel time tables (residents, employees, and hotel visitors). The travel time map was generated using the Pedestrian Evacuation Analyst model from the USGS (https://geography.wr.usgs.gov/science/vulnerability/tools.html). The travel time

Database of significant deposits of gold, silver, copper, lead, and zinc in Alaska

This data release provides descriptions and locations of 134 significant deposits in Alaska. Approximately 99 percent of past production and remaining identified resources of gold, silver, copper, lead, and zinc in the United States are accounted for by deposits that originally contained at least 2 metric tons (t) of gold, 85 t silver, 50,000 t copper, 30,000 t lead, and 50,000 t zinc. Deposits of

Estrogen Equivalents of Surface Water in the Upper Chesapeake Bay Watershed (2008 - 2011)

Intersex in small- and largemouth bass has been observed in the upper Chesapeake Bay Watershed since 2003. This observation is indicative of exposure to estrogenic endocrine disrupting chemicals. In order to complement biological data sets and better identify the spatial and temporal nature of this end-point, discrete grab water samples were collected throughout the upper Chesapeake Bay Watershed

Ethanol and sodium acetate as a preservation method to delay degradation of environmental DNA: Data

This data contains environmental DNA (eDNA) sample assay results that were collected from water samples taken from a tank housing Asian carp and placed either on ice or at room temperature. At both treatment temperatures, water samples were left untreated or were treated with an ethanol and sodium acetate solution (EtOH-NaAc). This was done to evaluate an ethanol and sodium acetate solution to mai

Temperature and seepage data from a lake-bottom permeable reactive barrier, Ashumet Pond, Falmouth, MA, 2004-2015.

These data were collected to evaluate groundwater/surface-water exchange in the area of a lake-bottom permeable reactive barrier and to assess changes in groundwater seepage over the period between 2004 and 2015. This data release includes geospatial datasets, comma separated values (.csv) files, and associated FGDC-compliant metadata representing data collected between 2004 and 2015 as part of a

West Nile virus susceptibility of American singer canaries: Data

hree datasets are included: 1) survival of domesticated canaries and American crows following sub-cutaneous challenges ranging from 101 – 105 plaque forming units of West Nile virus. 2) Arbitrary units of WNV detected by RT-PCR or plaque forming units of WNV cultured in vero cells in 4 separate studies. Culture results are indicated for each day post WNV challenge. 3) Weight (mass) changes in gram
