Nitrogen, phosphorus, and suspended-sediment loads and trends measured at the Chesapeake Bay River Input Monitoring stations: Water years 1985-2022

Nitrogen, phosphorus, and suspended-sediment loads, and changes in loads, in major rivers across the Chesapeake Bay watershed have been calculated using monitoring data from the Chesapeake Bay River Input Monitoring (RIM) Network stations for the period 1985 through 2022. Nutrient and suspended-sediment loads and changes in loads were determined by applying a weighted regression approach called WR

Pacific Walrus Coastal Haulout Images from Remote Cameras

This data package contains digital photos of a walrus haulout location at Cape Greig, on the Alaska Peninsula summer 2023. Photos were taken up to three times daily from a remotely operated camera located on a bluff above the haulout. The camera was installed in the early spring 2023, prior to arrival of walruses at the site. Images were transferred via satellite link.

Fundamental Datasets for Wyoming StreamStats

This data release was produced by the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) in cooperation with the Wyoming Water Development Office for the purpose of delineating gage basins and performing hydrologic analysis in the Wyoming StreamStats application. These datasets are raster representations of the fundamental dataset layers necessary for the functionality of StreamStats application within the Wyoming Str

Basin Characteristic Datasets for Wyoming StreamStats

This data release was produced by the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) in cooperation with the Wyoming Water Development Office for the purpose of calculating basin characteristics in preparation for the Wyoming StreamStats application. The data are parameter grid representations of various environmental, geological, and land use attributes within the Wyoming StreamStats study area and will be served

Horizontal-to-Vertical Spectral Ratio Soundings and Depth-to-Bedrock Data for New York City and Long Island, NY

From March 2019 to September 2020, the U.S. Geological Survey, in cooperation with the New York City Department of Design and Construction and the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation, collected horizontal-to-vertical seismic (HVSR) surveys at 140 locations in New York, Bronx, Queens, Nassau, and Suffolk counties to estimate the thickness of unconsolidated sediments and the dept

Geospatial Data for Bedrock Elevation and Overburden Thickness Maps of the Five Boroughs, New York City, New York

Using a combination of public and proprietary historical construction test borings, recent exploration drilling, USGS observation wells, outcrops, and seismic measurements, a series of geospatial overlays for bedrock elevation and overburden thickness were created for the Five Boroughs of New York City, New York. Rasters were interpolated from a point elevation data set and refined using published

Continuous Marine Seismic-Reflection Surveys and Derived Depth-to-Bedrock Point Data from the East River, New York City, New York

This data release contains data from five seismic-reflection surveys in New York’s East River between Governors Island and the Queensboro Bridge. Data are provided in the original proprietary data format, a SEGy data exchange format, and as a shape file of locations and depths to bedrock. Depths to bedrock were derived from the seismic signal travel time and an assumed speed of sound of 5,000 feet

Voucher and metagenetic sequencing of DNA barcodes of wild-collected bees (Apoidea) from Iowa, USA

High-throughput methods for identification of pollinator taxa are desirable to improve our understanding of pollinator distributions, population trends, and ecology. Genetic sequencing of taxonomically informative 'barcode' loci is one high-throughput strategy, which can be applied to individual specimens using Sanger technology and to complex mixtures using metabarcoding technology. This study ge

Data from Across the USA Used to Assess the Uncertainty of Discharge Estimates Using a Modified Manning's Equation

An expanding effort exists to estimate discharge of rivers utilizing remote sensing measurements. The goal of this investigation is to evaluate the uncertainty associated with estimating streamflow using remote sensing practices. This data release contains in-situ observations of river width, depth, velocity, and discharge from 30 U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) gaged study reaches (USGSGagedTestSit

Predicted Temperature and Precipitation Values Derived from Modeled Localized Weather Regimes and Climate Change in the State of Massachusetts

Predicted temperature and precipitation values were generated throughout the state of Massachusetts using a stochastic weather generator (SWG) model to develop various climate change scenarios (Steinschneider and Najibi, 2022a). This data release contains temperature and precipitation statistics (SWG_outputTable.csv) derived from the SWG model under the surface warming derived from the RCP 8.5 cli

Aeolian mass flux data for the Colorado Plateau

These data were compiled to measure airborne horizontal mass flux of sediments moved by wind across soils, climates, vegetation types, and land uses on the Colorado Plateau. Objectives of our study were to quantify spatial and temporal patterns in wind erosion and further our understanding of how soil and site setting, climate, and land uses are controlling wind erosion and horizontal mass flux. T

Concentrations of Per- and Polyfluoroalkyl Substances (PFAS) in Lake-Bottom Sediments of Ashumet Pond on Cape Cod, Massachusetts, 2020 (ver. 2.0, February 2024)

Lake-bottom sediment and associated quality-control samples were collected in August 2020 from one coring location (U.S. Geological Survey station 413756070321301, ASHUMET POND, MASHPEE MI-ASHPD-0011) in Ashumet Pond downgradient from a former fire-training area on Cape Cod, Massachusetts. The core was collected to determine if per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) were present in the bottom
