Hart Lake, Oregon

Detailed Description

Around Hart Lake, hundreds of bird species either reside or stop during migration. Nesting species include sandhill cranes, American white pelicans, double-crested cormorants, willets, Wilson's phalaropes, gadwalls, northern shovelers, American coots, western grebes, Clark's grebes, black-crowned night herons, Canada geese, mallards, and various ducks and terns. Additionally, the marshes and lake shores host white-faced ibis, great white egrets, great blue herons, and American avocets.

Hart Lake benefits from overflow from Crump Lake and a continuous inflow of fresh water from Honey Creek, contributing to the most stable water level in the Warner Lakes chain.
