Data Releases

The data collected and the techniques used by USGS scientists should conform to or reference national and international standards and protocols if they exist and when they are relevant and appropriate. For datasets of a given type, and if national or international metadata standards exist, the data are indexed with metadata that facilitates access and integration.

Elemental concentrations for bulk and size-fractionated mine waste from the Tar Creek Superfund Site, Tri-State Mining District, Oklahoma, U.S.A.

Elemental concentrations for bulk and size-fractionated mine waste from sampled historical waste piles from the Tar Creek Superfund Site, Oklahoma, U.S. were determined after dissolution via acid digests or a sodium peroxide fusion. Elemental concentrations were determined for the leachate from a simulated rainwater leach of mine wastes. Data and methods reported are part of a research study publi

Electron microprobe analyses of sphalerite and hemimorphite from mine wastes from the Tar Creek Superfund Site, Tri-State Mining District, Oklahoma, U.S.A.

Electron microprobe analyses of sphalerite (ZnS) and hemimorphite (Zn4Si2O7(OH)2·H2O) from sampled historical waste piles were conducted with a specific focus on germanium (Ge). In mine wastes at the Tar Creek Superfund Site, Oklahoma, USA, Ge is associated with ZnS (sphalerite) as expected, but weathering in the waste piles has led to a significant amount of Ge being incorporated into a zinc-sili

Dissolved arsenic, copper, and lead concentrations in surface water within the Klamath Basin (ver. 3.0, October 2022)

Arsenic (As) toxicity is a global environmental and health problem. There are both natural (eg volcanic activity) and anthropogenic sources of As (eg lead arsenate and copper arsenate were commonly used pesticides in the 1900's). Aqueous levels of arsenic in the Klamath Basin (CA, OR), which has a volcanic origin, can exceed at some locations both the Oregon Department of Environmental Quality hum

Quinault River water temperature and salmon bioenergetics model data

This data release contains the complete set of modeling input and output files for a Heat Source water temperature model and fish bioenergetics model on the lower Quinault River in Washington state. A detailed description of the modeling process, results, and interpretation can be found in the associated primary publication.

Sediment chemistry and characteristics of samples collected in 2019 from the Similkameen River above Enloe Dam, Okanogan County, Washington (ver. 3.0, March 2022)

This data release provides information on the chemistry and character of bed sediments accumulated in the 1.6-mile long impoundment behind Enloe Dam on the Similkameen River in Okanogan County, WA. Sediment samples were collected during four weeks in October – December 2019. The sampling locations were distributed among 10 transects that ranged from 0.1-0.2 miles apart along the length of the rese

Ecological Model Support for the Western Everglades Restoration Project (WERP) Round Four of Four, 2020

Ecological models facilitate evaluation and assessment of alternative approaches to restore the Greater Everglades ecosystem. However, the provision of useful and accessible models is a challenge because there is often a disconnect between model output and its use by decision makers. Joint Ecosystem Modeling (JEM) meets this challenge by providing ecological model output tailored to management dec

Zircon Trace Element Data for Igneous Units Related to Mineralization in the Eastern Yukon-Tanana Upland and nearby areas, Eastern Alaska

From 2017-2019, framework metallogenic studies were completed in the eastern Yukon-Tanana upland in eastern Alaska. Numerous previously undated plutons known or suspected to contain components of porphyry, epithermal, and intrusion-related gold systems and associated deposit types were sampled for age and zircon trace element determinations between the Black Mountain area and the Yukon border, nor

Data from an investigation of turtle basking behavior in the Atchafalaya Basin of south-central Louisiana in 2021

The dataset is comprised of game camera photos taken at known turtle basking structures in the Atchafalaya Basin's Little Alabama Bayou in south-central Louisiana. There was a spring camera deployment in April 2021 and a fall camera deployment in October 2021. Three game cameras were used in each deployment and photos were taken every two minutes for seven days for each camera. The photos in this

40Ar/39Ar data from the Old Mine Park area, Trumbull, Connecticut

This data release includes 40Ar/39Ar data from the U.S. Geological Survey for samples from Old Mine Park Area, Trumbull, Connecticut. Mineral samples were collected by Robert Wintsch and Harold Moritz. Potassium-bearing mineral grains were separated from the bulk sample and analyzed by argon geochronology at the U.S. Geological Survey Bascom ARgon Dating (BARD) Laboratory in Reston, Virginia. The

Electron microprobe and 40Ar/39Ar isotopic data from west-central New Hampshire

This dataset accompanies planned publication 'Unmixing multiple metamorphic muscovite age populations with powder X-ray diffraction and 40Ar/39Ar analysis'. The 40Ar/39Ar and electron microprobe data are from samples adjacent to a lower greenschist facies shear zone in western New Hampshire. The geochronology coupled with the electron microprobe data provide a petrochronologic framework for the ro

Two-dimensional HEC-RAS models and topo-bathymetric datasets for the Willamette River, Oregon

This dataset contains two-dimensional hydraulic models throughout the Willamette River, extending from the McKenzie River confluence, near Eugene, to the city of Newberg. The study reach is separated into five individual models to simplify tributary inflow boundary conditions and for run-time efficiency. These models were developed to assess juvenile salmonid habitat at streamflows ranging from ty

Single-beam Echosounder Bathymetry of the Willamette River, Oregon 2015-2018

River bathymetry measurements were collected in 2017 and 2018 along the Willamette River, Oregon, between Eugene and Newberg. These data were collected to complement a bathymetric lidar dataset collected in 2017 for the same section of river. In many deeper segments of the river channel, bathymetric lidar did not produce measurements of river bathymetry. To fill gaps in the bathymetric lidar datas
