Data

Staff of USGS Science Centers in Region 7: Upper Colorado Basin collect a wide variety of natural resource data types including spatial, geologic, hydrologic, and biologic. Data included in USGS-series publications that are not publicly available in USGS databases are published in Data Releases. Short descriptions and links to Data Releases produced by Region 7 Science Centers are shown below.

Data Release of Geologic Map of the north half of the Lake Walcott 30' x 60' Quadrangle, Idaho

The northern half of the Lake Walcott 30 x 60 minute quadrangle shows the geology of the southern part of the Craters of the Moon lava field, the complex geologic features of the Holocene Kings Bowl and Wapi lava fields, and the southern part of the Great Rift volcanic rift zone. The long extent and distribution of skylights in lava-tube systems of the Horse Butte and Wapi Park lava fields are dep

Model input and output for prefire and postfire hydrologic simulations in the Upper Rio Hondo Basin, New Mexico using the Precipitation-Runoff Modeling System (PRMS)

This data release contains inputs for and outputs from hydrologic simulations of the Upper Rio Hondo Subbasin, New Mexico using the Precipitation-Runoff Modeling System (PRMS). Input data for the entire Upper Rio Hondo Subbasin were developed, but output data only from the North Fork Eagle Creek subwatershed were used. Input data include parameter files for two PRMS models calibrated to prefire co

U-Pb SHRIMP zircon isotopic data for ages used on the Poncha Pass map

U-Pb isotopic data from zircon measured using the SHRIMP-RG ion microprobe at Stanford University, CA. These data are used to calculate absolute ages of the samples from which the zircons were extracted. These samples are shown on the Poncha Pass map being submitted for publication (Minor, et al., in prep)

Data Release for Geologic Map of the Fort Collins 30' x 60' quadrangle, Larimer and Jackson Counties, Colorado, and Albany and Laramie Counties, Wyoming

This geologic map provides new and compiled geologic mapping at 1:100,000-scale in the Fort Collins 30' x 60' quadrangle covering the northern Front Range and adjacent areas of Colorado.

North American Grid-Based Sampling Frame

This sampling frame is a set of grid-based finite-area frames spanning Canada, the United States, and Mexico. The grid for the United States is broken into individual grids for the continental United States, Hawaii, and Puerto Rico. Alaska is combined with Canada into a single grid. Each country/state/territory extent consists of four nested sampling grids at 50x50km, 10x10km, 5x5km, and 1x1km res

North American Bat Monitoring Program (NABat) Master Sample and Grid-Based Sampling Frame

The NABat sampling frame is a grid-based finite-area frame spanning Canada, the United States, and Mexico consisting of N total number of 10- by 10-km (100-km2) grid cell sample units for the continental United States, Canada, and Alaska and 5- by 5-km (25km2) for Hawaii and Puerto Rico. This grain size is biologically appropriate given the scale of movement of most bat species, which routinely tr

Description of groundwater monitoring wells installed at and near Kirtland Air Force Base, Albuquerque, New Mexico, 2013-2016

This data release is comprised of data compiled during the construction of monitoring wells at four sentinel well sites: Trumbull, Cesar Chavez, Southern, and VA. These wells are located in southeastern Albuquerque, New Mexico (Figures 1 and 2). Between March 2013 and April 2016, the United States Geological Survey (USGS), in cooperation with the Albuquerque Bernalillo County Water Utility Authori

Geospatial Data and Surface-Water Model Archive for a Flood-Inundation Mapping Study of the South Platte River at Fort Morgan, Colorado, 2018

The development and the generation of the datasets that are published through this data release, were based on the results and findings of this report: Kohn, M.S. and Patton, T.T., 2018, Flood-Inundation Maps for the South Platte River at Fort Morgan, Colorado, 2018: U.S. Geological Survey Scientific Investigations Report 2018-5114, 14 p., https://doi.org/10.3133/sir20185114. The geospatial datase

Data release for the Historical land use and land cover for assessing the northern Colorado Front Range urban landscape

The dataset was generated to describe historical land-use and land-cover (LULC)for the northern Colorado urban Front Range (which includes the cities of Boulder, Fort Collins, Greeley, and Denver) for an area covering approximately 1,023,660 hectares. The Front Range urban landscape is diverse and interspersed with highly productive agriculture as well as natural land cover types including evergre

Data release for Applying high-resolution imagery to evaluate restoration-induced changes in stream condition, Missouri River Headwaters Basin, Montana

Degradation of streams and associated riparian habitat across the Missouri River Headwaters Basin has motivated several stream restoration projects across the watershed. Many of these projects install a series of beaver dam analogues (BDAs) to aggrade incised streams, elevate local water tables, and create natural surface water storage by reconnecting streams with their floodplains. Satellite imag

Audiomagnetotelluric sounding data, stations 1-9, Taos Plateau Volcanic Field, New Mexico, 2009

This dataset includes the audio-magnetotelluric (AMT) sounding data collected in 2009 in and near the San Luis Basin, New Mexico. The U.S. Geological Survey conducted a series of multidisciplinary studies, including AMT surveys, in the San Luis Basin to improve understanding of the hydrogeology of the Santa Fe Group and the nature of the sedimentary deposits comprising the principal groundwater aq
