Spanning the southern tip of the Florida Peninsula and most of Florida Bay, Everglades National Park is the only subtropical preserve in North America. It is the only place in the world where alligators and crocodiles exist side by side.

This collection is a group of 15 images (digitized slides) showing the sinkhole that opened late in the evening of May 8, 1981 near the intersection of South Denning Drive and West Fairbanks Avenue, Winter Park, Florida, USA.

For a time after the pool collapse and introduction of the pool water into the sinkhole, there was a noticeable increase in slope movement, especially deeper in the sinkhole. The house and building parts broke up further and disappeared.
