Ian W Bishop, Ph.D.
Ian Bishop is a research ecologist at the USGS Southwest Biological Science Center’s Grand Canyon Monitoring and Research Center. His current work is focused on modeling river metabolism and diatom community dynamics in the Glen Canyon tailwater.
Ian’s broader research interests center on diatom ecology and biodiversity, in both freshwater and marine ecosystems. He has expertise in morphological and genomic approaches and applies both to explore how important diatom communities at the base of sensitive and valued food webs respond to rapid environmental change.
