Graph of budget components from a MT3D-USGS simulation versus time generated by GW_Chart based on results from a hypothetical model.
Richard B Winston, Ph.D.
Richard Winston is a Hydrologist with the USGS Water Resources Mission Area.
I develop and document new software utilities to facilitate simulation of groundwater systems, using a variety of documented models, and provide support for users inside and outside the USGS. The programs I have written or helped write include
- ModelMuse,
- ListingAnalyst,
- MODFLOW GUI,
- SutraGUI,
- GW_Chart, and
- Model Viewer.
I also maintain an Online Guide to MODFLOW (http://water.usgs.gov/nrp/gwsoftware/modflow2000/MFDOC/)

PREVIOUS PROFESSIONAL POSITIONS
DATES From: 1997 To: 1998
Consultant to Argus Interware
I created plug-ins for the Argus ONE software to support MT3DMS and HST3D. I also provided customer support.
DATES From: 1994 To: 1997
Asst. Professor, Dept. of Geology and Geophysics, Louisiana State University
I taught classes in Hydrogeology and Historical Geology and conducted hydrologic research.
DATES From: 1987 To: 1991
Geologist, Alabama Geological Survey
I conducted research in coal geology, especially with respect to coal-bed methane. I also did research on paleobotany.
