Xan Fredericks

Xan is the Emergency Response Coordinator for the USGS National Geospatial Program, overseeing emergency response activities and the Bureau’s Geospatial Information Response Team. She collaborates with a variety of partners to aid discovery and coordination of geospatial data, as well as the delivery of actionable, science-based information to the Bureau, other agencies, and emergency responders.

Alexandra “Xan” Fredericks works for the USGS National Geospatial Program as the Emergency Response Coordinator and is Chair of the USGS Geospatial Information Response Team, facilitating the effective coordination, communication, and dissemination of geospatial data and information during disaster events.

Xan is Co-Chair of the American Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing (ASPRS) Bathymetry Working Group and previously chaired the USGS Lidar User Group for over seven years. She is a past National Director of the ASPRS GIS Division and a past President of the ASPRS Florida Region, having also served on the Geospatial Professional Network (formerly URISA) Board of Directors. Xan is a GISCI-certified GIS Professional with an MGIS from Penn State University and a BS in Marine Science-Geology from Eckerd College.

Prior to her current role, Xan served as the National Map Liaison to Florida, Georgia, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands for the USGS NGP User Engagement Office during which time she used her expertise on National Map products and services to engage with users and stakeholders in all 50 states and U.S. territories. Before joining NGP, she was the Lidar Coordinator for the USGS Coastal and Marine Hazards and Resources Program for five years.
