Data Releases

The data collected and the techniques used by USGS scientists should conform to or reference national and international standards and protocols if they exist and when they are relevant and appropriate. For datasets of a given type, and if national or international metadata standards exist, the data are indexed with metadata that facilitates access and integration.

USGS National and Global Oil and Gas Assessment Project - Raton Basin-Sierra Grande Uplift Province: Assessment Unit Boundaries, Assessment Input Data, and Fact Sheet Data Tables

This data release contains the boundaries of assessment units and input data for the assessment of coalbed gas resources in the Raton Basin-Sierra Grande Uplift Province, Colorado and New Mexico. The Assessment Unit is the fundamental unit used in the National Assessment Project for the assessment of undiscovered oil and gas resources. The Assessment Unit is defined within the context of the highe

Core logs from three shallow holes drilled in summer 2000 into the flanks of Mauna Loa volcano, Island of Hawai‘i, Hawaii

This data release includes documentation of rock core recovered from three shallow holes drilled during the summer of 2000 into the flanks of Mauna Loa volcano, on the Island of Hawai‘i, Hawaii. Holes were drilled to accommodate installation of U.S. Geological Survey Hawaiian Volcano Observatory volcano-monitoring instruments in the year 2000. Rock core recovered from the holes, which extend 112–1

Conversion of CRP Grasslands to Cropland, Grazing Lands, or Hayland: Effects on Breeding Bird Abundances in the Northern Great Plains, 1996-2017, data release

The data set consists of bird abundance data collected in undisturbed grassland fields enrolled in the Conservation Reserve Program (CRP) and former CRP fields that were converted to cropland, grazing land, or hayland in nine counties in four states (Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Minnesota) in the northern Great Plains. The study was initiated in 1990, but data were only included in thi

Volatile organic compound, polychlorinated biphenyl, and biogeochemical data from passive samplers and laboratory experiments for wetland bioremediation study, Standard Chlorine of Delaware, Inc. Superfund Site, New Castle County, Delaware, 2019–202

This metadata record contains 15 tables with results from field and laboratory tests used to assess bioremediation in wetland areas at the Standard Chlorine of Delaware, Inc. Superfund site, New Castle County, Delaware, during 2019-2021. Included in the dataset are (1) polychlorinated biphenyl (PCB) concentrations in wetland sediment from sediment microcosm laboratory experiments, (2) chlorobenzen

Pd qPCR Interlaboratory Testing Results

These data were collected as part of a voluntary initiative to create a White-Nose Syndrome Diagnostic Laboratory Network among laboratories participating in research and surveillance for Pseudogymonascus destructans (Pd) - the fungal pathogen causing White-Nose Syndrome in bats. Pd_qPCR_InterlaboratoryLODdata.xlsx is raw qPCR data from multiple laboratories running serial dilutions of Pd gBlock i

Water-surface and groundwater-level elevations on and near Offutt Air Force Base, Nebraska, summer 2020 and spring 2021

This data set contains two sets of measured water-level data collected on and near Offutt Air Force Base near Bellevue, Nebraska. Surface-water and groundwater-level data were collected for two synoptic water-level surveys completed in late summer of 2020 and in spring 2021. The elevations of surface-water features were surveyed with a rover receiver using a real-time network (RTN), where the rove

Fish communities in Delmarva Peninsula streams, 2022

From 31 May to 29 June, 2022, a Virginia Tech team of 4-5 sampled the fish community in 30 Delmarva Peninsula streams (Maryland and Delaware, USA) as part of a larger stream-health study including other teams who surveyed geomorphology, water quality, flow, temperature, macroinvertebrates, and fish health at the same 30 streams. These 30 Chesapeake Bay Watershed tributaries had upstream drainage a

Southern Beaufort Sea Polar Bear Blood Based Analyte Data, 1983-2018

This dataset is one table with data collected and derived from polar bears sampled in Alaska's southern Beaufort Sea during 1983-2018. Collected data includes demographic and morphometric information. Derived data includes blood-based analyte values determined from whole blood and serum samples. Serum samples were analyzed on an Abaxis VS2 Biochemistry Analyzer and whole blood samples were analyze

True color and multispectral imagery data collected by small unoccupied aircraft systems at the USGS National Crude Oil Spill Fate and Natural Attenuation Research Site, Bemidji, Minnesota, June 2018

The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) deployed multirotor small unoccupied aircraft systems (sUAS or drones) on June 21, 2018, to collect imagery data documenting site conditions at the USGS National Crude Oil Spill Fate and Natural Attenuation Research Site near Bemidji, Minnesota, USA. True color visible light images were collected across the general study area. Multispectral images in five spectral

Geochemical data for stream water samples from streams around the Pogo Deposit and Black Mountain Au occurrences, Big Delta quadrangle, Alaska, 2021

This data release is the result of a hydrogeochemical sampling campaign during summer 2021 to investigate whether high resolution geochemical analysis of waters for element chemistry can be used as an exploration tool for identifying gold-rich occurrences in parts of the Big Delta B-1 and B-2 quadrangles, within the Yukon-Tanana Upland region, Alaska. Historical USGS conventional stream sediment g

Geophysical and core sample data collected in lakes and fjords of southcentral Alaska following the 2018 Anchorage earthquake (ver. 2.0, October 2023)

This dataset includes sub-bottom seismic and sediment core data collected during USGS field activities 2021-612-FA, 2020-625-FA, and 2020-615-FA. Sub-bottom data include Chirp seismic in SEG-Y format with associated navigation tracklines. Core data include photo and computed tomography (CT) scans, and various mineralogical, radiometric, and other sampling data. Users are advised to read the metada
