Data Releases

The data collected and the techniques used by USGS scientists should conform to or reference national and international standards and protocols if they exist and when they are relevant and appropriate. For datasets of a given type, and if national or international metadata standards exist, the data are indexed with metadata that facilitates access and integration.

USGS/Uzbek GOSCOMGEOLOGY/GeoMark potential source rock lab analysis results, 2021-2022

This dataset is associated with potential source rock samples collected from Uzbekistan. Borehole core samples, as well as outcrop samples, were collected by Uzbek GOSCOMGeology and the USGS in 2021 and 2022. Samples were sent to GeoMark Source Rock Lab for Leco total organic carbon content and HAWK pyrolysis analysis. Analysis results include percent carbonate (wt%), Leco TOC (wt%), and HAWK pyro

Suspended-Sediment Data for the Chehalis, Satsop and Wynoochee Rivers in Washington State, Water Years 2019-2022

This data release summarizes suspended sediment monitoring results on the Chehalis (USGS 12031000), Satsop (USGS 12035000) and Wynoochee (USGS 12037400) Rivers between water years 2019 and 2022. Sediment monitoring was based on a combination of continuous turbidity records and discrete suspended-sediment concentration (SSC) measurements. Data and results for each monitoring station were combined i

USGS National and Global Oil and Gas Assessment Project—Barents Sea Area: Assessment Unit Boundaries, Assessment Input Data, and Fact Sheet Data Tables

This data release contains the boundaries of assessment units, assessment input data and resulting fact sheet data tables for the assessment of undiscovered oil and gas resources in the Barents Sea Area. The Assessment Unit is the fundamental unit used in the National and Global Oil and Gas Assessment Project for the assessment of undiscovered oil and gas resources. The Assessment Unit is defined

Mapped polygons of landslides triggered by the 2016-2017 storm season, eastern San Francisco Bay region, California

The winter rainy season of 2016-2017 brought abundant rainfall to the state of California, including the San Francisco Bay region. Thousands of shallow landslides were triggered as a result of saturated soils and intense rainfall from strong winter storms in January and February 2017. The highest concentration of landslides from these storms occurred in the eastern part of the bay region, where la

USGS National Shoreline Change — A GIS compilation of vector shorelines and associated shoreline change data for coastal Virginia from the 1840s to 2010s

The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) has compiled national shoreline data for more than 20 years to document coastal change and serve the needs of research, management, and the public. Maintaining a record of historical shoreline positions is an effective method to monitor national shoreline evolution over time, enabling scientists to identify areas most susceptible to erosion or accretion. These dat

A neutral landscape approach to evaluating the umbrella species concept for greater sage-grouse in northeast Wyoming, USA

Greater sage-grouse (Centrocercus urophasianus) has been identified as a potential umbrella species with the assumption that conservation of their habitats in sagebrush ecosystems may benefit multiple other wildlife species, but co-occurrence with an umbrella species does not necessarily guarantee species will respond positively to management for sage-grouse. This may be particularly true for ecot

The Contaminant Exposure and Effects-Terrestrial Vertebrates database (CEE-TV)

The information provided in the Contaminant Exposure and Effects-Terrestrial Vertebrates (CEE-TV) Database profiles available geo-referenced information on contaminant exposure and effects in terrestrial vertebrates along the U. S. Atlantic, Gulf, and Pacific coasts (including Hawaii and Alaska) and the Great Lakes.

Russian River Integrated Hydrologic Model (RRIHM): Watershed Data

The Russian River Watershed (RRW) covers about 1,300 square miles (without Santa Rosa Plain) of urban, agricultural, and forested lands in northern Sonoma County and southern Mendocino County, California. Communities in the RRW depend on a combination of Russian River water and groundwater to meet their water-supply demands. Water is used primarily for agricultural irrigation, municipal and privat

Fish distribution and tidal currents in the Upper San Francisco Estuary, 2022-2023 (ver. 2.0, March 2024)

This data release includes field data for fishes sampled through mid-water trawls and otter trawl methods from Suisun Bay, California to the mouth of the Sacramento River. These data were collected from the months of September through October in 2022 and 2023 as a part of a multi-year study of Suisun Dredging and Fish Distribution (SDFD). This data release includes quantitative data on collected f

Geodatabase of oil and gas pads and roads within the Bureau of Land Management's Carlsbad Field Office administrative boundary, New Mexico

This database contains spatial data on the location, number, size and extent of energy-related surface disturbances within the Bureau of Land Management’s (BLM) Carlsbad Field Office (CFO) administrative area. The BLM administers over 2 million acres of surface estate and 3 million acres of mineral estate in the southeastern portion of New Mexico. The BLM requires a thorough and comprehensive reas

Electrical resistivity tomography in the Air Force Research Laboratory Northeast AFRL and Arroyos Groundwater Areas, Edwards Air Force Base, California 2022

The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) and Air Force Civil Engineering Center (AFCEC) have entered into a cooperative agreement to refine the hydrogeology in the Northeast AFRL and Arroyos groundwater areas of the Air Force Research Laboratory of Edwards Air Force Base. As part of these efforts, two electrical resistivity tomography (ERT) surveys- AFRL9 and AFRL10- were collected in the vicinity of the

Fish assemblage data collected within Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore, Michigan

Freshwater lake and stream fish data were collected as part of cooperative project between the U.S. Geological Survey and the U.S. National Park Service which began in 2021. Data was primarily collected from 22 sites within the Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore. The number of sites sampled each year as well as the types of data collected and sampling methods varied during each visit. This data rel
