Data Releases

The data collected and the techniques used by USGS scientists should conform to or reference national and international standards and protocols if they exist and when they are relevant and appropriate. For datasets of a given type, and if national or international metadata standards exist, the data are indexed with metadata that facilitates access and integration.

Daily streamflow performance benchmark defined by the standard statistical suite (v1.0) for the National Water Model Retrospective (v2.1) at benchmark streamflow locations (ver. 2.0, December 2022)

This data release contains the standard statistical suite (version 1.0) daily streamflow performance benchmark results for the National Water Model Retrospective (v2.1) at streamflow benchmark locations (version 1.0) as defined by Foks and others (2022). Modeled hourly timesteps were converted to mean daily timesteps. Model error was determined by evaluating predicted daily mean streamflow versus

Daily streamflow performance benchmark defined by the standard statistical suite (v1.0) for the National Hydrologic Model application of the Precipitation-Runoff Modeling System (v1 byObs Muskingum) at benchmark streamflow locations in the conterminous Un

This data release contains the standard statistical suite (version 1.0) daily streamflow performance benchmark results for the National Hydrologic Model Infrastructure application of the Precipitation-Runoff Modeling System (NHM-PRMS) version 1 "byObs" calibration with Muskingum routing computed at streamflow benchmark locations defined by Foks and others (2022). Model error was determined by eval

Geochemical, Geochronologic, Rock-Eval, and Spectral Gamma Ray Data for Selected Triassic Rocks in Northwestern Alaska

This set of data files contains analyses of samples representing the Triassic Shublik and Otuk Formations in Alaska. The samples were collected from the Brontosaurus 1 well and measured stratigraphic sections at Surprise Creek and Cape Lisburne. The data set includes total organic carbon (TOC), Rock-Eval (Tmax) data, geochemical data from inductively coupled plasma-optical emission spectroscopy-ma

Mapping Data of Eelgrass (Zostera marina) Distribution, Alaska and Baja California, Mexico

Coastal waters of southwestern Alaska the Baja California Peninsula, Mexico contain extensive beds of seagrass (eelgrass: Zostera marina and widgeongrass: Ruppia marina). Provided here are vector and raster geospatial datasets that characterize the distribution of seagrass, seaweeds, and other coastal habitats in waters adjacent to five National Wildlife Refuges in Alaska (Togiak, NWR, Izembek NWR

Tracking Data for Pacific Walrus (Odobenus rosmarus divergens)

This metadata document describes the data contained in the "processedData" folder of this data package. This data package contains all data collected by the Argos System from 921 satellite transmitters attached to adult Pacific walruses in the Bering and Chukchi Seas, in U.S. and Russian waters, 1988-2019. The raw data were processed to accomplish two goals: flag implausible location estimates and

Data Release for Luminescence: Late Holocene rupture history of the Ash Hill Fault, Eastern California Shear Zone, and the potential for seismogenic strain transfer between nearby faults

The following report summarizes the dating results from sedimentary deposits exposed by soil pits in Panamint Valley, CA. Within this report, we detail the methodology used by the USGS Luminescence Geochronology Laboratory to obtain ages including sample preparation methods, luminescence measurement, equivalent dose determination, and dating-related calculations.

Data Release for Luminescence: Paleoseismic liquefaction associated with Holocene earthquakes on the Wallula Fault zone, Southeast Washington, USA

Observations of widespread liquefaction and stratigraphic and structural relationships in a trench across an ambiguous scarp are used to constrain the timing of Holocene earthquakes on the northwest-striking Wallula fault zone in southeast Washington and Oregon. Additional observations and age constraints from OSL analysis of samples collected from large-scale liquefaction features that crosscut t

Atlantic and Gulf Coast Sandy Coastline Topo-Bathy Profile and Characteristic Database

Seamless topographic-bathymetric (topo-bathy) profiles and their derived morphologic characteristics were developed for sandy coastlines along the Atlantic and Gulf coasts of the United States. The topo-bathy profiles are published as a database in the Hierarchical Data Format version 5 (HDF5) which contain cross-shore distance coordinates, Universe Transverse Mercator (UTM) coordinate system East

Time to First Detection of Northwestern Pond Turtles and Red-eared Sliders by Bait Type in the Sacramento Valley, California, 2018

These data provide the time to first detection in days of Northwestern Pond Turtles (Actinemys marmorata) and Red-eared Sliders (Trachemys scripta elegans) by trapping location and bait type in the Sacramento Valley, California, in 2018. Bait types evaluated include sardines and dry cat food. Only location, species, and bait type combinations that resulted in captures are included. These data a

Peak-flow frequency analyses for selected streamgages on the Bighorn, Tongue, and Lower Yellowstone Rivers and tributaries and Home Creek, Montana, based on data through water year 2021

The USGS Wyoming-Montana Water Science Center (WY–MT WSC) completed a report (Sando and McCarthy, 2018) documenting methods for peak-flow frequency analysis following implementation of the Bulletin 17C guidelines. The methods are used to provide estimates of peak-flow quantiles for 66.7-, 50-, 42.9-, 20-, 10-, 4-, 2-, 1-, 0.5-, and 0.2-percent annual exceedance probabilities (AEPs) for selected st

Data supporting the 2019 geomorphic survey of North Fork Eagle Creek, New Mexico

This U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) data release contains results from the 2019 geomorphic survey of North Fork Eagle Creek, New Mexico. The 2019 geomorphic survey was conducted by the USGS, in cooperation with the Village of Ruidoso, New Mexico, and is the third in a planned series of five annual geomorphic surveys of the stream reach located between the North Fork Eagle Creek near Alto, New Mexic

Whole rock major, minor, and trace element geochemistry of the upper part of the Mount Emmons-Redwell porphyry molybdenum (Climax-type) deposit, Redwell Basin, Crested Butte, Colorado

This U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) data release provides whole rock major, minor, and trace element geochemical data from the fluorine-rich Mount Emmons-Redwell porphyry molybdenum (Climax-type) deposit (Mt. Emmons-Redwell deposit), located approximately 5.6 km (3.5 mi) northwest of Crested Butte, Colorado. The Mt. Emmons-Redwell deposit partly underlies Redwell Basin on the northwest flank of Mou
