The data collected and the techniques used by USGS scientists should conform to or reference national and international standards and protocols if they exist and when they are relevant and appropriate. For datasets of a given type, and if national or international metadata standards exist, the data are indexed with metadata that facilitates access and integration.

Estimated crop irrigation water use withdrawals in Lower San Pedro Groundwater Basin, Arizona for 2020

Observations of irrigated agricultural land within the Lower San Pedro Groundwater Basin in Arizona. Crops were verified in situ once in 2020 on July 14th; based on digitized field boundaries. Field boundaries were digitized from U.S. Department of Agriculture, National Agricultural Imagery Program images dated 2019 and supplemented with Landsat and Sentinel2 imagery collections accessed via the U

High-Frequency Water-Level Data at Devils Hole, Nye County, Nevada (ver. 2.0, March 2022)

This U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) data release consists of a spreadsheet presenting high-frequency water levels in feet below a measuring point (MP) at Devils Hole in Nye County, Nevada. Water-level data are collected at USGS site 362532116172701 by the National Park Service, using a data logger programmed to collect water-level every 15 minutes or every 5 seconds when a water-level change greate

Submersed Macrophyte Biomass Estimates in Pools 4, 8 and 13 of the Upper Mississippi River, 1998-2018

System-scale restoration efforts within the Upper Mississippi River Restoration Program have included annual monitoring of submersed aquatic vegetation (SAV) since 1998 in four representative reaches spanning approximately 440 river km. We developed predictive models relating monitoring data (site-scale SAV abundance indices) to diver-harvested SAV biomass, used the models to back-estimate annual

Arthropod Abundance and Shrub Cover and Height on the Seward Peninsula, Alaska, 2015-2016

This data set contains information (in three tables) with numbers and biomass of invertebrates (primarily arthropods) collected in pitfall-trap arrays and sweep-net samples on a series of plots (n = 13 total) at one coastal and one interior study site on the Seward Peninsula in northwestern Alaska during the summers of 2015 and 2016. Associated data on the horizontal cover and height of shrub vege

Maine Lidar-Derived Watersheds

Lidar Digital Elevation Models (DEMs) at 2-meter resolution have been used to derive watershed boundaries for the State of Maine. Geographic Information Systems (GIS) software was used to hydrologically enforce lidar DEMs and delineate watershed boundaries at pre-existing pour point locations (Price, 2016). The watershed boundaries are comparable in size to the 12-digit Hydrologic Unit catchments

Estimated crop irrigation water use withdrawals in Harquahala Irrigation Non-Expansion Area Groundwater Basin, Arizona for 2020

Observations of irrigated agricultural land within the Harquahala Irrigation Non-Expansion Area Groundwater Basin in Arizona. Crops were verified in situ three times in 2020 on first on March 11th, then on May 27th, and finally on August 11th; based on digitized field boundaries. Field boundaries were digitized from U.S. Department of Agriculture, National Agricultural Imagery Program images dated

Yuma Ridgway's Rail (Rallus obsoletus yumanensis) Population Surveys, Rail Movement, and Potential Habitat at the Salton Sea of California

Data were obtained as part of a project assessing risk to the federal and California listed endangered Yuma Ridgway's rail (Rallus obsoletus yumanensis) populations resulting from selenium contaminated agricultural runoff and to inform habitat restoration and management decisions. Four data sets were produced and used to analyze patterns of Yuma Ridgway's rail (Rallus obsoletus yumanensis, renamed
