Data Releases

The data collected and the techniques used by USGS scientists should conform to or reference national and international standards and protocols if they exist and when they are relevant and appropriate. For datasets of a given type, and if national or international metadata standards exist, the data are indexed with metadata that facilitates access and integration.

Blood Parasite Infection Data from Emperor Geese (Anser canagicus) and Cackling Geese (Branta hutchinsii minima), Yukon-Kuskokwim Delta, Alaska, 1998-2014

This dataset includes one table of blood parasite (hematozoa) infection data from 197 Emperor Geese (Anser canagicus) and 110 Cackling Geese (Branta hutchinsii minima) sampled on the Yukon-Kuskokwim Delta, Alaska, in 1998 and 2014. Three genera of blood parasites (Leucocytozoon, Haemoproteus, Plasmodium) were detected by molecular sequencing of a 479 bp fragment of the Cytochrome-b gene. The table

Visual Surveys and Morphometrics of Brown Treesnakes in Mariana Swiftlets caves on Guam

Visual survey data for brown treesnakes from caves with and without swiftlets. Each record (line) represents the snake sightings that occurred during a block of time, typically 1 hour at one site by searcher(s) during one search (i.e. one date). Snakes removed from caves and adjacent areas during visual surveys were then necropsied. Each record (line) represents necropsy results for a given indivi

Coastal Storm Modeling System (CoSMoS) for Central California, v3.1

The Coastal Storm Modeling System (CoSMoS) makes detailed predictions (meter-scale) over large geographic scales (100s of kilometers) of storm-induced coastal flooding and erosion for both current and future sea-level rise (SLR) scenarios. CoSMoS v3.1 for Central California shows projections for future climate scenarios (sea-level rise and storms) to provide emergency responders and coastal planne

Water-column environmental variables and accompanying discrete CTD measurements collected offshore the U.S. Mid- and South Atlantic

Various water column variables, including salinity, dissolved inorganic nutrients, dissolved inorganic carbon, and radio-carbon isotopes were measured in samples collected using a Niskin-bottle rosette at selected depths from deepwater sites offshore the US Mid- and South Atlantic from September 2017 to April 2019. CTD (Conductivity Temperature Depth) data were also collected at each depth that a

Liquid Chromatography Triple Quadrupole Mass Spectrometry (LC/MS/MS) analysis of cyanobacteria cultures from Lake Elsinore and Canyon Lake (CA, USA, 2016) for cyanotoxins and algal toxins

Cyanobacteria are common in inland water bodies. Many strains are known to produce potent toxins (cyanotoxins) which can impact human and animal health in sufficient concentrations. Lake Elsinore and Canyon Lake are two impaired lakes in California with frequent cyanobacteria blooms that are not monitored for toxin production. These data document the liquid chromatography triple quadrupole mass sp

Avian Eggshell Thickness for 12 Species in the Western U.S. from 2014 to 2018

Eggshell thickness was measured at the egg equator and poles (sharp pole and blunt pole) for 12 avian species. Eggshell thickness was related to egg morphometrics (egg length and width), embryonic development, egg status, and mercury contamination. Individual eggshells each have up to 3 thickness measurements, linked by the eggshell identification. Each measurement has the corresponding egg length

Salvator merianae trapping in Georgia, USA

Argentine Giant Tegu lizard (Salvator merianae) trap effort and count data collected in southern Georgia, USA in 2019. Non-target species associated with the traps were also documented, as were type of bait used and condition of the traps during trap checks.

Microbial Source Tracking Marker Concentrations in Congaree National Park in 2017-2019, South Carolina, USA

The dataset contains quantitative polymerase chain reaction data for microbial source tracking markers screened on water samples collected from streams and rivers within and bounding Congaree National Park from samples collected throughout the year from December 2017 through June 2019. The number of samples collected per event ranged from 4-16 over the span of 11 sample events.

Target-Chemical Concentration Results of Mixed-Organic/Inorganic Chemical Exposures in Cape Cod, Massachusetts Tapwater, 2018

This dataset provides the water-quality results for organic and inorganic concentrations analyzed from samples collected at residential tapwater faucets, sourced from private drinking water wells in Cape Cod, Massachusetts. Samples were collected in July and August, 2018 from 20 locations. Samples were analyzed at various U.S. Geological Survey laboratories: the National Water Quality Laboratory i

MODPATH6 models used to evaluate effects of complexity on groundwater age metrics in the Fox-Wolf-Peshtigo watersheds, Wisconsin

This data release contains five groundwater particle-tracking models (MODPATH6) of northeastern Wisconsin, USA, that were developed to work with three MODFLOW models that have differing levels of complexity. The previously developed MODFLOW models (https://doi.org/10.3133/sir20175010 and https://doi.org/10.5066/F73J3B3P) were modified slightly to ensure proper functioning with MODPATH6. Modifi

Mud logs from the Oxnard Oil Field, Ventura County, California

The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) in cooperation with the California State Water Resources Control Board (SWRCB) compiled and digitized mud logs from oil and gas wells in the Oxnard Oil Field area. Scanned copies of the mud logs were downloaded from the California Geologic Energy Management Division (CalGEM) online data and were digitized. Thirteen available mud logs associated with the Pliocene T

Fluid levels in the Oxnard Oil Field, Ventura County, California

The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), in cooperation with the California State Water Resources Control Board (SWRCB), compiled Fall 2017 fluid level elevation data from idle oil and gas wells in the Oxnard Oil Field to estimate vertical hydraulic head difference between oil production and overlying groundwater aquifer zones. Fluid elevations came from two sources, measurements in idle oil and gas wel
