Data Releases

The data collected and the techniques used by USGS scientists should conform to or reference national and international standards and protocols if they exist and when they are relevant and appropriate. For datasets of a given type, and if national or international metadata standards exist, the data are indexed with metadata that facilitates access and integration.

Reproductive Physiology of Brown Pelican Along the Coast of Alabama, 2017-2018

The datasets stored in this folder summarize reproductive data for Brown Pelicans nesting on Gaillard and Cat Islands, Alabama, in 2017 and 2018. Data include nest and nestling survival, nest site characteristics, environmental covariates, and temperatures recorded inside nests.

Inventory map of submarine and subaerial-to-submarine landslides in Glacier Bay, Glacier Bay National Park and Preserve, Alaska

Mass-wasting events that displace water, whether they initiate from underwater sources (submarine landslides) or subaerial sources (subaerial-to-submarine landslides), have the potential to cause tsunami waves that can pose a significant threat to human life and infrastructure in coastal areas (for example towns, cruise ships, bridges, oil platforms, and communication lines). Sheltered inlets and

Argon data for Amazon Craton

This dataset accompanies planned publication 'Genesis of early Neoproterozoic gold deposits, southwestern Amazon Craton, western Brazil'. The Ar/Ar data is for samples that record the mineralization of the area. The geochronology provides time constraints for the mineralization studied in the manuscript. Samples were collected from the Amazon Craton region, and collection was done by Rodrigo Prude

Argon data for Central Andes (Domeyko Range, Chile)

This dataset accompanies planned publication 'Gondwanan inheritance on the building of the western Central Andes (Domeyko Range, Chile): Structural and thermochronological approach (U-Pb and 40Ar-39Ar)'. The Ar/Ar data is for samples that record the sedimentation of the area. The geochronology provides time constraints for the sedimentation studied in the manuscript. Samples were collected from th

Fractional estimates of exotic annual grass cover in dryland ecosystems of western United States (2016 - 2019)

The dryland ecosystems of the western United States have been invaded by exotic annual grasses, such as cheatgrass (Bromus tectorum L.), that has promoted increased fire activity and reduced biodiversity detrimental to socio-environmental systems. The use of remote sensing tools to monitor exotic annual grass cover and dynamics over large areas can support early detection and rapid response initia

Sediment toxicity test endpoints from the U.S. Geological Survey 2014 Southeast Regional Stream Quality Assessment

These data present the results of sediment toxicity tests conducted by the US Geological Survey's Columbia Environmental Research Center (CERC) in Columbia, MO, in 2014. The sediments were collected as one part of a larger study on stream quality in Southeastern USA streams during the summer of 2014. For more information on the larger study see- https://webapps.usgs.gov/rsqa. The data include resu

Transient Electromagnetics, Passive Seismic, and Borehole Electromagnetics, Gamma, and Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Methods to Characterize an Unconsolidated Aquifer on Cape Cod, Massachusetts

Diagnostic and field data from the Eastern Migratory Whooping Crane Population

Detailed data collected from the field and generated during diagnostic evaluation of whooping crane carcasses from the Eastern Migratory Population.

Maternal transfer of PCBs in Pacific sand lance in Puget Sound, Washington

Data included in this release are from Pacific sand lance and water, sediment and suspended particulate matter collected at two sites in Puget Sound, Washington, which were evaluated for PCB concentration. PCB congener data are stored in the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service's Environmental Contaminant Data Management System (ECDMS), accessible through the Wildlife & Environmental Contaminants Mapper

U-Pb Isotopic Data and Ages of Titanite and Detrital Zircon from Selected Rocks from the Western Alaska Range, Alaska

This data set contains U-Pb isotopic data and associated ages of titanite from one sample and detrital zircon grains from 33 sedimentary and metasedimentary rocks collected from the western Alaska Range in south-central Alaska. The samples were collected as part of geological mapping and research conducted between 2010 and 2014 and funded by the Mineral Resources Program of the U.S. Geological Sur

Remote Sensing Shrub/Grass National Land Cover Database (NLCD) Back-in-Time (BIT) Products for the Western U.S., 1985 - 2018

The need to monitor change in sagebrush steppe is urgent due to the increasing impacts of climate change, shifting fire regimes, and management practices on ecosystem health. Remote sensing provides a cost-effective and reliable method for monitoring change through time and attributing changes to drivers. We report an automated method of mapping rangeland fractional component cover over a large po

SUTRA model used to evaluate Saline or Brackish Aquifers as Reservoirs for Thermal Energy Storage in the Portland Basin, Oregon, USA

This archive documents five 30-year SUTRA simulations summarized in Burns at al. (2020), and provides output from one short (2-year) simulation to allow verification that the archive model code runs properly. A modified version of SUTRA 2.2 was used to evaluate Reservoir Thermal Energy Storage by simulating layered system conditions (grid spacing varies depending on simulation run time to prevent
