Data Releases

The data collected and the techniques used by USGS scientists should conform to or reference national and international standards and protocols if they exist and when they are relevant and appropriate. For datasets of a given type, and if national or international metadata standards exist, the data are indexed with metadata that facilitates access and integration.

Airborne Thermal Infrared and High-resolution True-color Imagery and Longitudinal Profiles of Stream Temperatures, Upper Donner und Blitzen River Basin, Oregon, August 2020

This dataset includes georeferenced, high-resolution, airborne thermal infrared (TIR) and high-resolution true-color imagery, a polyline shapefile of the channel centerline, a polyline shapefile with TIR sample points for longitudinal stream temperature profiles, and a tabular file with longitudinal stream temperature profiles for the Donner und Blitzen River and its tributaries, Oregon. The aeria

Physical and Hydraulic Monitoring on the Yellowstone River Fish Bypass Channel, Montana, May 2022 to August 2023

This data release was produced by the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) in cooperation with the Bureau of Reclamation to present the results of monitoring efforts on the Yellowstone River fish bypass channel according to the specifications of the Lower Yellowstone Adaptive Management and Monitoring Plan. The fish bypass channel was constructed to provide upstream migrating fish with a route around a d

Vegetation survey and photointerpretation data for Metzger Marsh, OH, USA (1994-2022)

These datasets represent USGS-led coastal wetland vegetation survey and mapping efforts at Metzger Marsh, part of the Ottawa National Wildlife Refuge (Ohio, USA) along the coast of western Lake Erie between 1994 and 2022. Vegetation quadrat data provide percent cover estimates per sampling quadrat and overall mean percent cover (MPC) values per species by vegetation type from 1994, and 1996-2010.

Datasets for the U.S. Geological Survey - Idaho National Laboratory groundwater and surface-water monitoring networks, v1.1

A collection of analysis-ready datasets for the U.S. Geological Survey - Idaho National Laboratory (USGS-INL) groundwater and surface-water monitoring networks, administered by the USGS-INL Project Office in cooperation with the U.S. Department of Energy. The data collected from wells and surface-water stations at the Idaho National Laboratory and surrounding areas have been used to describe the e

Imputed daily salinity and associated covariates to support statistical modeling for 91 salinity monitoring sites in the northern Gulf of Mexico

Imputed salinities from either salinity or specific conductance observations and covariate data in data structures deemed suitable for statistical modeling of salinity in near-coastal environments of the northern Gulf of Mexico are provided for 15 salinity groups. The data herein were created by the 'covardr2formodel.R' script of 'covESTUSAL software' (Asquith and others, 2023), which represents t

Three-Dimensional Delineation of the Pierre Shale Bedrock from Electrical Resistivity Surveys Conducted in Two Areas of Interest Within and Near Ellsworth Air Force Base, South Dakota, 2022

In 2022, the USGS, in cooperation with the U.S. Air Force Civil Engineer Center (USAF/CEC), performed geophysical surveys at two areas of interest within and near Ellsworth Air Force Base (EAFB) to delineate the Cretaceous Pierre Shale bedrock. Electrical resistivity tomography (ERT) data were collected in two grid patterns using the dipole-dipole array within and near EAFB and site information—in

Identifying conditions where reed canarygrass (Phalaris arundinacea) functions as a driver of forest loss in the Upper Mississippi River floodplain under different hydrological scenarios

Most of the world’s river-floodplain ecosystems are simultaneously undergoing modifications to their hydrological regimes and experiencing species invasions, making it unclear whether invasive species are the main drivers of ecosystem change or simply responding to changes in the hydrological regime. We simulated patterns of forest recruitment and succession in a 2200 ha portion of the Upper Missi

Cosmogenic Al-26/Be-10 Isochron Burial Data for the Sparta, NC Area

This data release contains three spreadsheets that have aluminum-26 and beryllium-10 concentrations for samples collected in and near Sparta, North Carolina in 2021-2022. These samples were prepared for burial dating by the Reston Cosmogenic Nuclide (RECON) Lab and measured via accelerator mass spectrometry at the Purdue Rare Isotope Measurement (PRIME) Lab. The file “Sparta_SiteLocations_Odom.csv

Water Quality data from the Providence Water Supply Board for tributary streams to the Scituate Reservoir, water year 2017

Water-quality data were collected by the Providence Water Supply Board (PWSB) from tributaries in the Scituate Reservoir drainage area, October 2016 through September 2017 (water year 2017). Water-quality samples were collected by the PWSB either monthly or quarterly at fixed stations on 36 tributaries in the Scituate Reservoir drainage area. These data were used to calculate instantaneous loads a

Water Quality data from the Providence Water Supply Board for tributary streams to the Scituate Reservoir, water year 2015

Water-quality data were collected by the Providence Water Supply Board (PWSB) from tributaries in the Scituate Reservoir drainage area, October 2014 through September 2015 (water year 2015). These data were used to calculate instantaneous loads and yields of constituents in a report by the U.S. Geological Survey. Water-quality samples were collected by the PWSB either monthly or quarterly at fixed

Geochemistry and High-Resolution Backscattered Electron Imaging of Meteor Crater Impact Melts

Utilizing the USGS Meteor Crater Sample Collection, we sampled impact melt particles for geochemical and textural characterization using a scanning electron microscope and electron microprobe. Samples were collected from a range of different depths and distances from the crater rim, all within the proximal ejecta blanket. By using the Meteor Crater Sample Collection, in which all samples have know

Streambank topographic lidar survey of the French Broad River near the Interstate 26 bridge located south of Asheville, NC – November 2019, Pre-construction

In January 2020, the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) began work on the Interstate 26 (I 26) highway widening project that involves a bridge crossing over the French Broad River (FBR) near Asheville, North Carolina. The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) in cooperation with the NCDOT, conducted a streambank light detection and ranging (lidar) survey of the streambanks of the French B
