Estimates of annual and daily concentration and flux of nutrients, chloride, and suspended sediment in tributaries of Lake Champlain, 1990 through 2014

Daily and annual estimates of concentrations and flux of total and dissolved phosphorus, total nitrogen, chloride, and total suspended solids are provided for the period March 1990 through November 2014 (or for less time, depending on data availability) for use in watershed models and to support trend assessments.

Coastal Topography-Chandeleur Islands, Louisiana, 23-25 June 2016

Lidar-derived seamless (bare earth and submerged) topography Digital Elevation Model (DEM) mosaic and classified point-cloud datasets of the Chandeleur Islands, Louisiana were produced from remotely sensed, geographically referenced elevation measurements collected June 23-25, 2016.

Cover of Woody and Herbaceous Functional Groups in Burned and Unburned Plots, Mojave Desert, 2009-2013

Arid ecosystems are often vulnerable to transformation to invasive-dominated states following fire, but data on persistence of these states are sparse. The grass/fire cycle is a feedback process between invasive annual grasses and fire frequency that often leads to the formation of alternative vegetation states dominated by the invasive grasses. However, other components of fire regimes, such as b

Potential movement paths for male grizzly bear (Ursus arctos) dispersal between the Northern Continental Divide and Greater Yellowstone Ecosystems, 2000-2015

For several decades, grizzly bear (Ursus arctos) populations in the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem (GYE) and the Northern Continental Divide Ecosystem (NCDE) have increased in numbers and range extent. Whereas the NCDE population is contiguous with grizzly bear populations in the Canadian Rocky Mountains, genetic evidence suggests the GYE population remains isolated. Recent analyses indicate the ef

Concentrations of arsenic in water from public supply and domestic wells in New Hampshire

This dataset contains arsenic concentrations from bedrock aquifer wells located throughout New Hampshire and includes public supply wells and domestic supply wells.

Data validating computation of boundary roughness from QL2 lidar derived digital elevation models for 2D hydraulic modeling applications

Calibration of hydraulic models require careful selection of input parameters to provide the best possible modeling outcome. Currently the selection of hydraulic resistance or 'n' values for these models is a subjective process potentially exposing models to critical review . A process is needed to objectively estimate n-values so everyone responsible for model calibration arrives at the same an

Inventory of arsenic and uranium water-quality results from private wells in Connecticut, 2013-2015

This dataset contains the water-quality results from the testing of unfiltered water samples collected from 674 private wells in Connecticut for the analysis of arsenic and (or) uranium, using EPA method 200.8. All of the environmental water-quality data and georeferenced locations of the sampled wells were provided by the Connecticut Department of Public Health (CT-DPH). The water samples, collec

Data Release for: Classification of California streams using combined deductive and inductive approaches: setting the foundation for analysis of hydrologic alteration

The dataset contains 28 physical descriptors for each of 135,118 stream segments in California, USA. The stream segments are identified using the medium resolution National Hydrography Dataset (NHD), Version. These data were used to perform a classification analysis described in Pyne and others, 2016, Classification of California streams using combined deductive and inductive approaches: Setting

Genetics rayed creekshell

This dataset supports the inclusion of Anodontoides radiatus in the genus Strophitus, introducing the binomial Strophitus radiatus. These data also provide strong support for paraphyly in Strophitus and advocate the resurrection of the genus Pseudodontoides to represent the binomials Pseudodontoides connasaugaensis and Pseudodontoides subvexus.

Testing dataset for independent analysis of New Hampshire arsenic model

Existing multivariate logistic regression models that predict the probabilities of arsenic concentrations at 1, 5, and 10 micrograms per liter in bedrock aquifers of New Hampshire were tested using bedrock wells not included in the model development. This data release contains a table of measured arsenic concentrations and associated model input variables for the model testing dataset. Location

Rangeland Ecology Monitoring Data, Utah, 1967-2013

These data represent compiled long-term rangeland monitoring data collected from June to September, 1967 to 2013 at 96 permanently marked sites in 15 livestock grazing allotments in near Hanksville, Utah. The Rangeland rangeland monitoring data were collected by a Bureau of Land Management (BLM) field office in south-central Utah. Monitoring consisted of estimating canopy cover of perennial plant

Created snag characteristics and cavity-nesting bird associations in the CFIRP stands, McDonald-Dunn Research Forest, Corvallis, OR, USA, 2016

Snags provide critical habitat for nearly one-third of wildlife species in forests of the Pacific Northwest, so historic declines in snags are thought to have had a strong impact on biodiversity. Resource managers often create snags to mitigate the scarcity of snags within managed forests, but information regarding the function and structure of created snags across long time periods (20 years) is
