Water quality and ancillary data for assessment of uranium concentrations in groundwater, San Joaquin Valley, CA (ver. 1.1, December, 2019)

High concentrations of uranium were detected in samples from wells used for domestic drinking water supplies in the San Joaquin Valley. Of 163 domestic wells sampled by the California Groundwater Ambient Monitoring and Assessment Program Priority Basin Project (GAMA-PBP) and the National Water Quality Program (NWQP) in 2008-2015, 26 percent had uranium concentrations greater than the U.S. Environm

Pesticide datasets from the National Water Quality Laboratory: a review of recent practices of censoring scenarios for select groundwater and surfacewater results, 2001-2015

This data release includes all pesticide results from selected batches of water samples analyzed by the U.S Geological Survey National Water Quality Laboratory (NWQL). Samples were analyzed using gas chromatography/mass spectrometry (GCMS) or liquid chromatography/mass spectrometry (LCMS) methods. Eight datasets are included in this data release; 1) all environmental and field quality control (QC)

Geochemical and isotopic compositions of stream sediment, parent rock, and nearshore sediment from southwest Puerto Rico, April 2017-June 2018

Geochemical and isotopic compositions were determined in stream sediment and parent rocks collected in April 2017 and June 2017 and in nearshore sediment collected bimonthly in sediment traps from May 2017 to June 2018 in the coastal zone and 12 drainages of southwest Puerto Rico: Rio Loco, Yauco, Guayanilla, Macana, Tallaboa, Matilde, Portugues, Bucana, Inabon, Jacaquas, Descalabrado, and Coamo.

Population genetics metrics for wild brook trout populations in North Carolina (1998-2016)

This data set includes information on 406 wild brook trout populations from across the State of North Carolina. Key genetics metrics on diversity and the extent of hatchery introgression are presented. These data accompany the following article: Kazyak, D.C., Rash, Jacob, Lubinski, B.A., and King, T.L., 2018, Assessing the impact of stocking northern-origin hatchery brook trout on the genetics

Quality Control and Soil Quality Data in support of Baseline Environmental Monitoring at the Ammonium Perchlorate Rocket Motor Destruction (ARMD) Facility at the Letterkenny Army Depot, Chambersburg, Pennsylvania, 2016

From September to December, 2016, herein referred to as the baseline characterization period, monthly samples were collected from four groundwater wells, one surfacewater site, and nine soil samples near the ARMD Facility. The only surfacewater site sampled monthly during the baseline characterization period was upgradient of the facility. There was no streamflow at surfacewater sites downgradient

Water quality data from the Goose Lake Study Site Eastern Montana 1989-2018

The data set contains temporal chloride concentrations (mg/L) and specific conductance (uS/cm) values for 32 wetlands and groundwater monitoring wells as well as the date(s) sampled and the laboratory where the water quality analyses were conducted. The ratio of chloride concentration to specific conductance is referred to as the Contamination Index. In this region, values greater than 0.035 are u

Brook trout movement data related to cover and forage in an experimental stream system with associated water quality parameters

Brook trout is a species of conservation concern in the eastern US. In 2016, we evaluated brook trout movement patterns in response to food and cover treatments in an experimental stream system using RFID monitoring techniques at the USGS Leetown Science Center in Kearneysville, WV. Brook trout were tagged with 12mm HDX Passive Integrated Transponder (PIT) tags and monitored with Multi-Antenna HDX

Croton setiger predators, herbivores, and damage collected in California 2013-2014

A pollen addition experiment was conducted on the leaves of Croton setiger, a Californian forb. Pollen was added to leaves of randomly selected plants, and control plants had no pollen added. Over 2013 and 2014 the number of predatory and herbivorous insects were counted on each plant, and the number of damaged leaves and plant size were measured.

Spatially averaged coherencies (krSPAC) and Rayleigh effective-mode modeling of microtremor data from asymmetric arrays

The datasets for this investigation consist of microtremor array data collected at sites in San Jose, California, Pleasanton, California, and synthetic microtremor array data created as part of a blind shear-wave velocity modeling study as part of the Third International Symposium on the Effects of Surface Geology on Seismic Motion (ESG2006), Grenoble, France, 30 August - 1 September 2006. The dat

Geoelectric and Seismic Data acquired in the Precambrian Granite Gravel Aquifer, Llano Uplift, Central Texas, May 2017 - August 2018

This data release contains geophysical data and well and borehole driller's logs acquired at a small field site in the Llano Uplift of central Texas. The field site is underlain by the unconfined Precambrian Granite Gravel aquifer and the Precambrian Town Mountain Granite bedrock from which the Granite Gravel Aquifer was derived through chemical and mechanical weathering. The data set consists of

USGS National and Global Oil and Gas Assessment Project-Ventura Basin Province, Monterey Formation Assessment Units Boundaries

The Assessment Unit is the fundamental unit used in the National Assessment Project for the assessment of undiscovered oil and gas resources. The Assessment Unit is defined within the context of the higher-level Total Petroleum System. The Assessment Unit is shown herein as a geographic boundary interpreted, defined, and mapped by the geologist responsible for the province and incorporates a set o
