While surveying for African dwarf crocodiles (Osteolaemus tetraspis) on the Djidji River in Gabon’s Ivindo NP as part of my Ph.D. research (2007), Eaton pulled this 2.4 m slender-snouted crocodile (Mecistops cataphractus) from a fishing net in which it became entangled while trying to steal a fish. Measuring Streamflow Through a Weir
Pew Creek below Johnson Road, Lawrenceville, Ga. The metal structure is a "V" weir. A sediment dam was built on either side of it to force the water through the weir. Scientists can calculate gallons per minute flow in the stream by timing how long the flow took to fill a bucket.
