Software

The USGS Water Resources Mission Area provides water information that is fundamental to national and local economic well-being, protection of life and property, and effective management of the Nation’s water resources. Below, find software for a wide range of water resources research and management questions.

AreaComp Hydroacoustics Software

AreaComp is a software for computing stage area ratings from hydrologic measurements.

Stationary Moving-Bed Analysis (SMBA) Software

Stationary Moving-Bed Analysis (SMBA) computes the dot product of the bottom track vector onto the unit water vector and determines the moving bed velocity in the upstream direction relative to the water velocity vector. This program is applicable to all stationary moving bed test.

RSMatrix Hydroacoustics Software

The purpose of RSMatrix is to provide an program that can be run outside Matlab and used by non-Matlab owners to read the ADCP transformation matrices from a RiverSurveyor Live generated Matlab file.

Loop Correction Software (LC)

The LC program automates the application of the loop method for correcting discharges measured using bottom track with a moving bed present.

Equal Discharge Increment (EDI) Software

EDI facilitates easy use of an ADCP discharge measurement for computing the locations and associated depth and water velocity for collecting Equal-discharge-increment method sediment and water-quality samples.

National Streamflow Statistics (NSS) Application

The National Streamflow Statistics (NSS) Application is an online computer application that provides a simple method for applying regional flood-peak streamflow estimates and low flow frequency/duration streamflow estimates.

Reston Stable Isotope Lab Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) for Lasers & Light Stable Isotopes

The Reston Stable Isotope Laboratory LIMS (Laboratory Information Management System) software suite is available for download: 1) LIMS for Lasers 2015 for off-axis and cavity ring-down laser absorption spectrometers, 2) LIMS Data Viewer, a companion utility that allows read-only access to LIMS for Lasers data, and 3) LIMS for Light Stable Isotopes for isotope-ratio mass spectrometers.

Python GIS Flood Tool (pygft)

The Python GIS Flood Tool (pygft) was designed to process stream, catchment, and elevation datasets in order to assess the extent and depth of flooding for each stream reach. The model itself is light-weight, created with the capability to scale to larger regions or CONUS (conterminous United States) scales.

WaveLab

The WaveLab software was designed to extract sea and barometric pressure data from selectively deployed instruments, calculate water levels, and finally compute wave statistics where applicable. There is also a utility to extract slices from the sea and barometric pressure time series for multiple purposes including getting values of interest and cropping out spurious values. The output includes

ModelMuse Version 4.3 Software Release

ModelMuse is a graphical user interface (GUI) for the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) models MODFLOW 6, MODFLOW 2005, MODFLOW LGR, MODFLOW LGR2, MODFLOW NWT, MODFLOW CFP, MODFLOW OWHM, MODPATH, ZONEBUDGET, PHAST, SUTRA 2.2, SUTRA 3.0, MT3D USGS, and WellFootprint and the non USGS model MT3DMS. This software package provides a GUI for creating the flow and transport input file for PHAST and the inp

An Open Source Spreadsheet for Estimation of the Ellapsed Time for Casing Storage Effects on Drawdown to be Eliminated for Single-Well Pumping Test Analysis

This is a strict open source spreadsheet that can be used to estimate the elapsed time from the beginning of pumping for casing storage water to no longer contribute to the pumping well yield. The spreadsheet is used to estimate the early time drawdown data that should not be analyzed for estimation of aquifer hydraulic properties (transmissivity) from a single pumping well aquifer test data set.

ListingAnalyst version 1.2

ListingAnalyst has been updated to work with MODFLOW 6 and the most recent versions of MODFLOW-2005 and MODFLOW-NWT. In addition to recognizing many additional error and warning messages, it also recognizes data for the Riparian package in MODFLOW-OWHM, the AG package in MODFLOW-NWT and the Surface-Water Routing package.
