Data Releases

The data collected and the techniques used by USGS scientists should conform to or reference national and international standards and protocols if they exist and when they are relevant and appropriate. For datasets of a given type, and if national or international metadata standards exist, the data are indexed with metadata that facilitates access and integration.

Alaska Digitize Project

Processing methodology for the seafloor substrate data required multiple steps to georegister, digitize, clean, and validate the datasets. Sediments such as gravel, sand, and mud were available as verbal notations on the smooth sheets and the data on any one smooth sheet were digitized by one person and then proofed by another. Once the locations of the sediment point data were collected and notat

High-resolution multibeam bathymetry and backscatter data collected in 2004 for the northern Channel Islands region, southern California

This data release presents data for 5-m resolution multibeam-bathymetry and acoustic-backsccatter data of the northern Channel Islands region, southern California. In 2004 the U.S. Geological Survey, Pacific Coastal and Marine Science Center collected multibeam-bathymetry and acoustic-backscatter data in the northern Channel Islands region, southern California. The region was mapped aboard the R/V

GAP/LANDFIRE National Terrestrial Ecosystems 2011

The U.S. Geological Survey Gap Analysis Program (GAP) National Terrestrial Ecosystems - Ver 3.0 is a 2011 update of the National Gap Analysis Program Land Cover Data - Version 2.2 for the conterminous U.S. The GAP National Terrestrial Ecosystems - Version 3.0 represents a highly thematically detailed land cover map of the U.S. The map legend includes types described by NatureServe's Ecological Sys

Pb isotope measurements of road dusts and background geologic materials in the Viburnum Trend resource extraction area of southeast Missouri (2011)

The isotopic composition of Pb in fugitive dust suspended by a vehicle from 13 unsurfaced roads in Missouri was measured to identify the source of Pb within an established long-term mining area. A three end member model using 207Pb/206Pb and concentration as tracers resulted in fugitive dust samples plotting in the mixing field of well characterized heterogeneous end members. End members selected

Lab tests for specimens from Mukilteo, WA, 2016

This data release includes the detailed results from laboratory testing of colluvium and landslide deposit specimens collected from coastal bluffs near Mukilteo, Washington.

Geospatial, continuous, and point measure data for a spatial and temporal assessment of back-barrier erosion on Cumberland Island National Seashore, Georgia, 2011-2013:

This data release contains four data files that were used to evaluate the conditions during which erosion occurred and the magnitude of erosional events. A single shapefile contains shoreline positions for five sites measured during the beginning and end of the project and projected shoreline positions based on the observed erosion rates. There are three .csv files that contain measured erosion pi

Modeled conterminous United States Crop Cover datasets for 2000 - 2013

Crop cover maps have become widely used in a range of research applications. Multiple crop cover maps have been developed to suite particular research interests. The National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS) Cropland Data Layers (CDL) are a series of commonly used crop cover maps for the conterminous United States (CONUS) that span from 2008-2013. In this investigation we wanted to expand th

Water-Quality Data from the Yukon River Basin in Alaska and Canada

The water-quality data available here has been collected as part of a collaborative monitoring project between the US Geological Survey, Yukon River Inter-Tribal Watershed Council, and Yukon River Basin communities known as the Indigenous Observation Network. Since 2006 the USGS National Research Program (NRP) and Yukon River Inter-Tribal Watershed Council (YRITWC) have been partnering to collect

Raw Data from Continuous Resistivity Profiles Collected May 24-25, and July 28, 2011 in Biscayne Bay and a Cooling Canal System, Miami-Dade County, Florida

The salinity of groundwater at the Florida Power & Light Company (FPL) Turkey Point Nuclear Plant in southeastern Florida is being evaluated. The power plant contains a large cooling canal system with warm water; which has salinities elevated above typical, natural surface water in southeastern Florida, circulating within the canals in the uppermost part the highly permeable karst carbonate Biscay

Digital geologic map data for the Ozark National Scenic Riverways and adjacent areas along the Current River and Jacks Fork, Missouri

This is a seamless compilation of GIS data for geologic coverage of the Ozark National Scenic Riverways (NPS) in the southern Ozarks of Missouri. It is compiles from 1:24,000 data that was previously published as 7.5 minute quadrangle maps. This compilation will give the park a continuous coverage of the park for land management and natural science research purposes.

Indiana Bat Project data

Our model is a full-annual-cycle population model {hostetler2015full} that tracks groups of bat surviving through four seasons: breeding season/summer, fall migration, non-breeding/winter, and spring migration. Our state variables are groups of bats that use a specific maternity colony/breeding site and hibernaculum/non-breeding site. Bats are also accounted for by life stages (juveniles/first-yea
