Data Releases

The data collected and the techniques used by USGS scientists should conform to or reference national and international standards and protocols if they exist and when they are relevant and appropriate. For datasets of a given type, and if national or international metadata standards exist, the data are indexed with metadata that facilitates access and integration.

Water Quality and Biological Data from Ponds on Islands of the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta

This data includes information on water quality, zooplankton, and fish sampled in ponds on delta islands in San Joaquin County, California. The islands include Bacon (North and South ponds), Bouldin (East and West ponds), Holland Tract (Middle, North, and South ponds), and Webb Tract (East, Middle, and North ponds). Discrete water quality parameters were measured bimonthly and continuous temperatu

Investigating Detection and Roadside Bias in Surveys of Grassland Birds in the Northern Great Plains, ND 2015, MT 2017-2018

A biologist and field crew from Northern Prairie Wildlife Research Center visited sites nine times throughout the breeding season (late May to mid-July) to record counts of grassland birds. Surveyors applied North American Breeding Bird Survey methodology to obtain counts at On-, Near-, and Off-road Stops, but unlike the North American Breeding Bird Survey, which features a single survey at each s

Hydrologic monitoring data in steep, landslide-prone terrain, Sitka, Alaska, USA

This data release includes time-series data and qualitative descriptions from a monitoring station on a steep, landslide-prone slope above the City of Sitka, Alaska. On August 18, 2015, heavy rainfall triggered around 60 landslides in and around Sitka. These landslides moved downslope rapidly; several were damaging, and one demolished a home on South Kramer Avenue and killed three people. On Septe

Modified multi-node well (MNW2) files used to simulate potential future (2016-2050) water-table elevation change near Kirtland Air Force Base in Albuquerque, New Mexico

Data release to accompany the SIR: Potential effects of projected pumping scenarios on future water-table elevations near Kirtland Air Force Base in Albuquerque, New Mexico (https://doi.org/10.3133/sir20235075). Data release includes the modified MNW2 files for the local-scale and regional model of the MODFLOW LGR-2 version of the updated Middle Rio Grande Regional model, published here: https://w

Model Archive Summary for Turbidity Derived Suspended-Sediment Concentrations at USGS Station 11336680; South Mokelumne River at New Hope Bridge near Walnut Grove, California (2011 - 2015)

Continuous 15-minute time-series suspended-sediment concentration (SSC) data computed from USGS instream turbidity data using a YSI 6-series multi-parameter water quality sonde for the South Mokelumne River at New Hope Bridge near Walnut Grove, California station (SMR; USGS #11336680). A model archive summary describes the development of a continuous 15-minute SSC time-series regression model.

Model Archive Summary and Time-Series Suspended-Sediment Concentrations Computed from a Surrogate Turbidity Regression at USGS Station 11313240; Grant Line Canal Near Tracy, California (2014-2018)

Model archive summary (MAS) describing the development of a continuous 15-minute suspended-sediment concentration (SSC) time series regression model for the site: Grant Line Canal Near Tracy, California (U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) site # 11313240). The SSC time series is computed from instream turbidity data that is managed by the California Department of Water Resources (CDWR) using a YSI 6-se

Model Archive Summary for Turbidity Derived Suspended-Sediment Concentrations at USGS Station 11336685; North Mokelumne River near Walnut Grove, California (2011 - 2015)

Continuous 15-minute time-series suspended-sediment concentration (SSC) data computed from U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) instream turbidity data using a YSI 6-series multi-parameter water quality sonde for the North Mokelumne River near Walnut Grove, California, USGS station  #11336685. A model archive summary describes the development of a continuous 15-minute SSC time-series regression model.

Vegetation and Water Monitoring Datasets for selected locations in the Republic of the Marshall Islands from 2017-2022

The Republic of the Marshall Islands (RMI) is a sovereign Small Island State in the tropical central North Pacific Ocean. RMI is a nation of more than thirty atolls and islands, most of which are inhabited, dispersed across an exclusive economic zone (EEZ) over 2 million square kilometers. This data release contains raster datasets for vegetation and water monitoring including Normalized Differenc

USGS National and Global Oil and Gas Assessment Project - Raton Basin-Sierra Grande Uplift Province: Assessment Unit Boundaries, Assessment Input Data, and Fact Sheet Data Tables

This data release contains the boundaries of assessment units and input data for the assessment of coalbed gas resources in the Raton Basin-Sierra Grande Uplift Province, Colorado and New Mexico. The Assessment Unit is the fundamental unit used in the National Assessment Project for the assessment of undiscovered oil and gas resources. The Assessment Unit is defined within the context of the highe

Core logs from three shallow holes drilled in summer 2000 into the flanks of Mauna Loa volcano, Island of Hawai‘i, Hawaii

This data release includes documentation of rock core recovered from three shallow holes drilled during the summer of 2000 into the flanks of Mauna Loa volcano, on the Island of Hawai‘i, Hawaii. Holes were drilled to accommodate installation of U.S. Geological Survey Hawaiian Volcano Observatory volcano-monitoring instruments in the year 2000. Rock core recovered from the holes, which extend 112–1

Conversion of CRP Grasslands to Cropland, Grazing Lands, or Hayland: Effects on Breeding Bird Abundances in the Northern Great Plains, 1996-2017, data release

The data set consists of bird abundance data collected in undisturbed grassland fields enrolled in the Conservation Reserve Program (CRP) and former CRP fields that were converted to cropland, grazing land, or hayland in nine counties in four states (Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Minnesota) in the northern Great Plains. The study was initiated in 1990, but data were only included in thi
