Data Releases

The data collected and the techniques used by USGS scientists should conform to or reference national and international standards and protocols if they exist and when they are relevant and appropriate. For datasets of a given type, and if national or international metadata standards exist, the data are indexed with metadata that facilitates access and integration.

Model Archive: Simulation of Sediment Transport, Middle Channel of St. Clair River Delta, Michigan

This archive contains results of flow and sediment transport simulations of a reach of the Middle Channel of the St. Clair River delta, Michigan using the iRIC modeling system and the Flow and Sediment Transport with Morphologic Evolution of Channels (FASTMECH) solver. Two hydraulic model simulations were used to determine lateral eddy viscosity and roughness settings. A third simulation contains

U-Pb and Ar-Ar age data and whole rock geochemistry data of igneous and metasedimentary rocks of northeast Afghanistan (ver. 2.0, June 2024)

This dataset accompanies the proposed publication, 'Geochronology and geochemistry of igneous and metasedimentary rocks of northeast Afghanistan: A refinement of the timing and origin of crustal terranes', which focuses on refining the geochronology and geochemistry of these rocks during multiple time periods of accretion, regional metamorphism, and magmatic activity. The analyses were performed

Water Surfaces Elevations from Pressure Transducers on the Tanana River near Fairbanks, Alaska, 2016

This dataset includes locations, and water surface elevations from two submersible pressure transducers deployed in the channel of the Tanana River downstream of Fairbanks Alaska in 2016.

Data Supporting Studies of Brant and Other Waterfowl Disturbance Behavior, Distribution, and Diet at Izembek Lagoon, Alaska, 1985-1988

This data package presents legacy data collected during 1985-1988 at Izembek Lagoon on the western end of the Alaska Peninsula. The data were collected in support of a multi-year study focused on aircraft disturbance of waterfowl, particularly Black Brant, Emperor Geese, and Cackling Geese. The study was conducted at Izembek Lagoon and included several study sites within the lagoon: Halfway Point,

Velocity and Water-Quality Data for the Maumee River Between Defiance and Toledo, Ohio, 2019

As part of the Great Lakes Restoration Initiative (GLRI) project template 774-18 entitled “Development of monitoring and response methodologies, and implementation of an Adaptive Management Framework to work towards Eradication of Grass Carp in Lake Erie” an integrated bathymetric/hydrodynamic/water-quality survey of the Maumee River (Ohio) was completed by the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) in the

Compilation of Geospatial Data (GIS) for the Mineral Industries and Related Infrastructure of Select Countries in Southwest Asia

The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) has compiled a geodatabase containing mineral-related geospatial data for 10 countries of interest in Southwest Asia (area of study): Afghanistan, Cambodia, Laos, India, Indonesia, Iran, Nepal, North Korea, Pakistan, and Thailand. The data can be used in analyses of the extractive fuel and nonfuel mineral industries and related economic and physical infrastructure

U.S. Geological Survey simulations of hydrodynamics and morphodynamics in Cape Cod Bay, MA

The Coupled Ocean-Atmosphere-Wave-Sediment Transport (COAWST; Warner and others, 2019; Warner and others, 2010) model was used to simulate ocean circulation, waves, and sediment transport in Cape Cod Bay, MA. Larger scale simulations of the US East Coast (Warner and Kalra, 2022) were used to drive numerical grids covering the Gulf of Maine (~1000m resolution) with a two-way nested downscaled regio

LAS Digital logs for the Mancos Shale, Candy Lane 1 (CL-1) Core in Montrose County, Colorado

The Candy Lane 1 (CL-1) core was acquired in November 2005 as part of a multidisciplinary effort by the U.S. Geological Survey, the Bureau of Land Management, and the Bureau of Reclamation to investigate the Mancos Shale in the Gunnison Gorge National Conservation Area, Montrose County, Colorado. The Upper Cretaceous Mancos core was taken from the NE 1/4 sec. 8, T. 50 N., R. 9 W. corresponding to

Remotely sensed fine fuel data for Buenos Aires National Wildlife Refuge (BANWR) from 2015 to 2020

These data were compiled to estimate fine-fuel abundance and distribution across the Buenos Aires National Wildlife Refuge in southern Arizona, USA. The objectives of the study were to develop and validate annual estimates of fine fuel (biomass of herbaceous vegetation) for the refuge and to assess changes in fine fuels through time in response to wildfire and prescribed fire. These data represent

Arrowweed (Pluchea sericea) morphological and physiological response data from a greenhouse inundation experiment

These data were collected to evaluate if arrowweed (Pluchea sericea) individuals and genotypes collected from across a 5.3 degree Celsius temperature gradient and grown in a common greenhouse environment had different physiological and morphological responses to inundation. The objectives of the study were to assess if 1) individuals from climatically different provenances differ in their morpholo

30-Year (1990-2019) Annual Average of DAYMET Precipitation and Temperature for North America

This metadata record describes the 30-year annual average of precipitation in millimeters (mm) and temperature (Celsius) during the period 1990–2019 for North America. The source data were produced by and acquired from DAYMET daily climate data (2020) and presented here as a series of two 1-kilometer resolution GeoTIFF files. An open source python code file used to process the data is also include

Climatic suitability models and assessments for plant species and communities of the Southwestern US

These data were compiled to assess potential changes in the climatic suitability for 66 species (dominant and associate plant species) and forecast climate exposure for 29 major plant communities within major plant communities in the southwestern United States. An objective of our study was that species within plant communities have unique climate suitability signatures and forecast changes in cli
