Data Releases

The data collected and the techniques used by USGS scientists should conform to or reference national and international standards and protocols if they exist and when they are relevant and appropriate. For datasets of a given type, and if national or international metadata standards exist, the data are indexed with metadata that facilitates access and integration.

Geochemical and Geospatial Data for Per- and Polyfluoroalkyl Substances (PFAS) in Groundwater Used As a Source of Drinking Water in the Eastern United States

Concentrations of inorganic constituents, dissolved organic carbon (DOC), tritium, per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), volatile organic compounds (VOCs), and pharmaceuticals were measured in groundwater samples collected from 254 wells in 2019 and 2020. Concentrations of inorganic constituents, DOC, VOCs, and pharmaceuticals were measured at the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) National Wate

Vertical Land Motion Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) Campaigns, Southeast Virginia (ver. 2.0, December 2022)

This data release is a compilation of annual Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) surveys of a network of 26 vertical control points (benchmarks) in the Hampton Roads region of southeastern Virginia. Surveys are conducted annually during the winter and are structured to collect a minimum of 24-hours of position data when possible, at an interval of 30-seconds or less at each benchmark locatio

Bathymetric data for the Maumee River between Defiance and Toledo, Ohio, 2019

As part of the Great Lakes Restoration Initiative (GLRI) project template 774-18 entitled "Development of monitoring and response methodologies, and implementation of an Adaptive Management Framework to work towards Eradication of Grass Carp in Lake Erie" an integrated bathymetric/hydrodynamic/water-quality survey of the Maumee River (Ohio) was completed by the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) in the

GIS Data for Geologic Map of the Salmon National Forest and Vicinity, East-Central Idaho

The data release for the geologic map of the Salmon National Forest and vicinity, east-central Idaho, is a Geologic Map Schema (GeMS)-compliant version that updates the GIS files for the geologic map published in U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) Geologic Investigations Series Map I-2765 (Evans and Green, 2003). The updated digital data present the attribute tables and geospatial features (points, lin

Isotopic Examination of Mercury Methylation and Demethylation Rates in Yellowstone National Park Thermal Features

Data in this data release were obtained for water samples collected under Yellowstone National Park Research Permit YELL-05194 in 2017 through the Integrated Yellowstone Studies Project funded by the Mineral Resources Program. Isotope-spiked incubations were carried out to determine methylation and demethylation potential for Frying Pan spring, Crystal Sister East, Crystal Sister West, and Turbule

Yellowstone Thermal Feature Mercury and Methylmercury Characterization

Data in this data release were obtained from water samples collected under Yellowstone National Park (YNP) Research Permit YELL-05194 in 2017, 2019, and 2020 through the Integrated Yellowstone Studies Project funded by the Mineral Resources Program. These samples were used to assess mercury cycling within YNP. Water samples were analyzed for total mercury and methylmercury, the bioaccumulated form

U.S. Geological Survey Precipitation Chemistry Quality Assurance Project Data 2019 – 2020

The USGS Precipitation Chemistry Quality Assurance Project (PCQA) operates QA programs to challenge and test the National Atmospheric Deposition Program (NADP) data-collection processes for both the National Trends Network (NTN) and Mercury Deposition Network (MDN). PCQA data are available in separate tables for each quality-assurance program: (1) NTN Interlaboratory-comparison, (2) MDN Interlabor

Apatite and zircon U/Pb and fission track geochronologic and thermochronologic data along the Fall Line of the southeastern United States

This data release contains apatite and zircon U/Pb and fission track data for six samples collected along the Fall Line of the southeastern United States, from Virginia to the Georgia-South Carolina border. The data resolve phases of rapid exhumational cooling in the Permo-Triassic, additional cooling in the Jurassic-Early Cretaceous and slower cooling since the middle of the Cretaceous. The data

Geochemical reanalysis of rock and sediment samples from the Lower Middle Fork of the Salmon River collected as part of the Idaho Primitive Area Studies in the 1960's through 1980's

This is a geochemical data set from the reanalysis of 44 rock samples collected between 1966 and 1970, and 107 sediment samples collected in 1966 and 1967. These samples were collected by the U.S. Geological Survey for a study investigating the mineral resources of the Idaho Primitive Area (Cater et al., 1973). The samples are from the Lower Middle Fork of the Salmon River, including the tributari

Data derived from GPS tracking of free-flying bald eagles (Haliaeetus leucocephalus), Iowa, USA

Comma-separated values (.csv) file containing data (and derived data) from GPS tracking of free-flying bald eagles (Haliaeetus leucocephalus), Iowa, USA. NOTE: Data file does not load properly in Microsoft Excel due to the size of data file (2,093,022 rows x 15 columns) that far exceeds Excel's maximum of 1,048,576 rows. Use other program(s) like R or Notepad to view the file.

Stream Temperature in the Donner und Blitzen basin, Southeastern Oregon, 2018-2021

This dataset includes stream temperature data from 34 sites in the Donner und Blitzen basin of SE Oregon. Data loggers were deployed in September of 2018 and downloaded each subsequent summer/fall through 2021. The EcoDrought_Temperature file contains temperature data (in degrees Celsius) by logger serial number and site for the study period. The EcoDrought_Points spatial data layer contains site

Stream Temperature in the Northern Great Basin region of Southeastern Oregon, 2016-2021

This dataset includes hourly stream and air temperature data from 124 sites throughout the Northern Great Basin region of SE Oregon.
