Data Releases

The data collected and the techniques used by USGS scientists should conform to or reference national and international standards and protocols if they exist and when they are relevant and appropriate. For datasets of a given type, and if national or international metadata standards exist, the data are indexed with metadata that facilitates access and integration.

Acoustic doppler current profiler (ADCP) data collection of water flow at Benicia Bridge, 2004

This data release contains acoustic Doppler current profiler (ADCP) data used in generating a model of sediment flux through Carquinez Strait, CA at Benicia Bridge. The ADCP outputs binary data files containing measurement scheme, location, time, velocity, backscatter, boat heading, depth, and other parameters. There are two forms of data provided, one collected from two transects along the wester

Data release: Walleye Thermal Optical Habitat Area (TOHA) of selected Minnesota lakes

Climate change and land use change have been shown to influence lake temperatures and water clarity in different ways. To better understand the diversity of lake responses to climate change and give managers tools to manage individual lakes, we focused on improving prediction accuracy for daily water temperature profiles and optical habitat in 881 lakes in Minnesota during 1980-2018. The data are

Data release: Process-based predictions of lake water temperature in the Midwest US

Climate change has been shown to influence lake temperatures in different ways. To better understand the diversity of lake responses to climate change and give managers tools to manage individual lakes, we focused on improving prediction accuracy for daily water temperature profiles in 7,150 lakes in Minnesota and Wisconsin during 1980-2019. The data are organized into these items: Spatial data

Sensitivity and precision of stream permanence estimates (1977-2019) from the USGS Thornthwaite Monthly Water Balance Model in the Pacific Northwest, USA

This dataset includes inputs and results for parameterizing the USGS Thornthwaite Monthly Water Balance Model (MWBM) to simulate annual stream permanence on National Hydrography Dataset (NHD) stream reaches. Also included are results from sensitivity analysis of MWBM parameters to final stream permanence classification (permanent or nonpermanent). The dataset includes files that link PRISM climate

Data release of geologic and geophysical maps of the Santa Maria and northern part of the Point Conception 30' x 60' quadrangles, California

This dataset accompanies geologic map publication " Geologic and geophysical maps of the onshore parts of the Santa Maria and Point Conception 30' x 60' quadrangles, California "; U.S. Geological Survey Scientific Investigations Map 3473. Data presented here include the digital geologic map database, paleontological sample locations and descriptions, and point data sets from magnetic and gravity d

Repeat measurements of bathymetry, streamflow velocity and sediment concentration made during a high flow experiment on the Colorado River in Grand Canyon, March 2008

The acoustic Doppler current profiler (ADCP) data were collected and compiled to characterize the velocity patterns in channel of the Colorado River and in an adjacent zone of laterally recirculating flow (eddy). Topographic/bathymetric digital elevation models (DEMs) were collected and compiled to characterize erosion and deposition in the Colorado River and in an adjacent zone of laterally recir

Stream Temperature of Desert Dace Habitat, Soldier Meadows, Black Rock Desert - High Rock Canyon Emigrant Trails National Conservation Area, Nevada, 2017-2020.

This U.S. Geological Survey data release consists of a tabular dataset containing stream temperature data. Data were collected every 12-hours from 15 sites in Soldier Meadows, Black Rock Desert - High Rock Canyon Emigrant Trails National Conservation Area, Nevada. The sites were established by the Bureau of Land Management - Winnemucca District Office in 2017. The data release includes tabular dat

Parent and alkylated polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) and per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) in north San Francisco Bay, Napa River, and Sonoma Creek in 2018 and 2019

Sediment grain-size distributions, stable carbon isotope ratios (d13C), total carbon to total nitrogen ratios (C:N), short-lived radionuclides (Beryllium-7, Cesium-137, and Lead-210), concentrations of 76 parent and alkylated polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) and concentrations of 33 per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) were measured in the northern reach of San Francisco Bay (San Pabl

Drainage-basin characteristics associated with road and stream intersections in Montana

This data release presents drainage-basin characteristics for 12,639 road and stream intersections in Montana. The drainage-basin characteristics presented include those computed by the Montana StreamStats application (McCarthy and others, 2016). Statistical analysis of the road and stream intersections was included in the report "Peak-Flow Variability, Peak-Flow Informational Needs, and Considera

Table of Electron Probe Microanalyses of Native Copper and Sulfide Minerals from the White Pine Sediment-hosted Copper Deposit, Michigan

This data release provides electron microprobe geochemical data that was collected as part of a scoping study to evaluate whether unconventional critical element resources may be associated with sediment-hosted copper systems in the Midcontinent Rift. We report abundances of trace elements in native copper and sulfide minerals in 12 thin sections from samples of the Mesoproterozoic lower Nonesuch

Field data from brief aquifer tests of domestic wells penetrating bedrock in the Appalachian Plateau of New York and best fits to theoretical curves of aquifer properties

This data release contains observed water-level recovery data in 52 wells, matched to theoretical type curves defined by postulated values of aquifer transmissivity and storage, that together constitute the database for USGS Scientific Investigations Report 2020-5087, "Transmissivity Estimated from Brief Aquifer Tests of Domestic Wells and Compared with Bedrock Lithofacies and Position on Hillside

Geochemical analyses of rock samples collected from the Dotson and I and L rare earth element deposits of the Bokan Mountain peralkaline igneous complex, Prince of Wales Island, southeastern Alaska

This data release presents the major and trace element chemistry of rock samples collected by the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) from trenches, channel cuts, test pits, and surface exposures of the Dotson and I and L Zone rare earth element deposits at Bokan Mountain, located in the southern part of Prince of Wales Island, southeastern Alaska. Bokan Mountain was formed by an Early Jurassic peralkal
