Data Releases

The data collected and the techniques used by USGS scientists should conform to or reference national and international standards and protocols if they exist and when they are relevant and appropriate. For datasets of a given type, and if national or international metadata standards exist, the data are indexed with metadata that facilitates access and integration.

Select model results from simulations of hypothetical rapid failures of landslides into Barry Arm, Prince William Sound, Alaska

This data release contains model output from simulations presented in the associated Open-File Report (Barnhart and others, 2021). In this report, we present model results from four simulations (scenarios C-290, NC-290, C-689, NC-689, Table 1) of hypothetical rapid movement of landslides into adjacent fjord water at Barry Arm, Alaska using the D-Claw model (George and Iverson, 2014; Iverson and Ge

Compilation of in situ and detrital zircon U-Pb ages for the Jurassic-Paleocene North American Cordillera (28-50 degrees north)

This document includes two suites of zircon U-Pb ages that help to characterize the magmatic and sedimentary history of the North American Cordillera between ~28 and 50 degrees north. The first dataset is a compilation of published zircon U-Pb ages of igneous rocks associated with the Mesozoic-Cenozoic North American Cordilleran arc. The compilation of igneous zircon data includes 1,492 U-Pb ages

Preliminary detrital zircon data for Upper Cretaceous to Paleocene strata of the Crazy Mountains basin, Montana

This document includes sandstone provenance data for Upper Cretaceous to Paleocene strata preserved in the Crazy Mountains Basin of western Montana, USA. The dataset includes detrital zircon data for six samples from the Upper Cretaceous Hoppers Formation (1 sample), Upper Cretaceous Billman Creek Formation (1 sample), and Paleocene Fort Union Formation (4 samples). Detrital zircon data were acqui

Geospatial Datasets for Watershed Delineation Used in the Development of the USGS StreamStats Application for Puerto Rico

The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), in cooperation with the Puerto Rico Environmental Quality Board, has compiled a series of geospatial datasets for Puerto Rico to be implemented into the USGS StreamStats application (https://streamstats.usgs.gov/ss/). These geospatial datasets, along with basin characteristics datasets for Puerto Rico published as a separate USGS data release (https://doi.org/10.

Spatial and tabular datasets of water withdrawals and use in Puerto Rico, 2015

The U.S. Geological Survey has compiled information on water withdrawal and use for Puerto Rico at 5-year intervals since 1980 to provide data for the management of the Commonwealth’s water resources. For 2015, water withdrawals and use were estimated for 78 municipalities from fresh groundwater and surface water in the categories of public use, domestic use, irrigation use, livestock, commercial

High-resolution multi-channel and Chirp seismic-reflection data from USGS cruise 2018-641-FA collected in south-central California in support of the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management Cal DIG I offshore alternative energy project

This dataset is one of several collected as part of the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM)-funded California Deepwater Investigations and Groundtruthing (Cal DIG I) project. The purpose of the study is to assess shallow geohazards, benthic habitats, and thereby the potential for alternative energy infrastructure (namely floating wind turbines) offshore south-central California due to its pro

USGS National and Global Oil and Gas Assessment Project- Eastern Mediterranean Region Assessment Unit Boundaries and Assessment Input Data Forms

This data release contains the boundaries of conventional assessment units for the assessment of undiscovered oil and gas resources in the Eastern Mediterranean Area. The Assessment Unit is the fundamental unit used in the National Assessment Project for the assessment of undiscovered oil and gas resources. The Assessment Unit is defined within the context of the higher-level Total Petroleum Syste

Mineralogical and Chemical Data for Heavy-Mineral Concentrate Samples Collected in the Taylor Mountains Quadrangle, Alaska, 2004-2008

Data for 819 pan concentrated stream-sediment samples, nonmagnetic heavy-mineral concentrate (HMC) samples, and chemical data for 93 of HMC samples is presented in data file geology_mineralogy_geochemistry_TaylorMtns_Alaska_Wang.csv. The samples were collected in 2004-2008 as part of a reconnaissance geochemical geological survey of drainage basins mostly in the Taylor Mountains 1:250,000-scale qu

Mercury and selenium chemical characteristics and speciation data of bird, fish, and earthworm tissues

Birds (Clark's grebe, Aechmophorus clarkii; Forster's Tern, Sterna forsteri), fish (Peacock bass, Cichla temensis, Cichla monoculus; Pescada, Plagioscion squamosissimus) and earthworms were analyzed for selenium, total mercury, and methyl mercury concentration and mercury speciation. A Clark's grebe was collected from Lake Berryessa (California, United States) in September 2012. A Forster's Tern w

Capture and Measurement Data of Greater White-Fronted Geese (Anser albifrons) from the Arctic Coastal Plain of Alaska, 2012-2014

This data set provides capture information and body size measurements of adult and gosling Greater White-fronted Geese captured at three study sites on the Arctic Coastal Plain of Alaska, 2012-2014.

Water Level, Temperature, and Discharge in West Twin Creek, Alaska, 2010 to 2012

This data set includes 15-minute interval data on stream temperature, stage, and discharge from an upstream and downstream gaging location on West Twin Creek, a first-order tributary to Nome Creek in the White Mountains of Alaska.

Stream and River Chemistry in Watersheds of Northwestern Alaska, 2015-2019

These data include stream water chemistry from headwater streams to large rivers across three national parks in Arctic Alaska: Bering Land Bridge National Preserve, Kobuk Valley National Park, and Noatak National Preserve.
