Data Releases

The data collected and the techniques used by USGS scientists should conform to or reference national and international standards and protocols if they exist and when they are relevant and appropriate. For datasets of a given type, and if national or international metadata standards exist, the data are indexed with metadata that facilitates access and integration.

Soil Biogeochemical Data from a Marine Terrace Soil Climo-Chronosequence Comparison

The storage and persistence of soil organic matter (SOM) is of critical importance to soil health, and to the terrestrial carbon cycle with implications for long-term climate change. To better understand the spatio-temporal controls on SOM, we have developed a new dataset spanning two previously described marine terrace soil chronosequences from northern, CA, USA: the Santa Cruz and the Mattole Ri

Concentrations of chlorinated volatile organic compounds and per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances in groundwater and surface water, former Naval Air Warfare Center, West Trenton, New Jersey

This dataset contains a compilation of concentrations of chlorinated volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) in groundwater and surface water sampled at the former Naval Air Warfare Center, West Trenton, New Jersey. Measured VOCs include trichloroethene (TCE), cis- 1,2-dichloroethene (cisDCE), and vinyl chloride (VC). Semi-volatile organic compound 1,4-diox

Data Release of Basin Characteristics, Generalized Skew Map, and Peak-Streamflow Frequency Estimates in Oklahoma, 2017 (ver. 1.1, September 2020)

The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) Oklahoma-Texas Water Science Center, in cooperation with the Oklahoma Department of Transportation, updated basin-characteristic data for Oklahoma streams with drainage areas of less than 2,510 square miles. Basin characteristics were updated or created for 248 streamgages. The previously published Oklahoma generalized skew map, a necessary element in the developm

Measurements of Discharge in Small, Low-Flowing Streams Using Multiple Techniques

The accompanying datasets include all field measurements collected as part of a study to evaluate multiple streamflow measurement techniques in small streams throughout the United States. Each individual dataset is paired with a metadata record describing the contents and purpose of that dataset.

Community Exposure in California to Coastal Groundwater Hazards Enhanced by Climate Change, reference year 2020

The data set contains information on potential population, economic, land cover, and infrastructure groundwater inundation exposure for San Francisco Bay and coastal communities of the state of California, USA. The type of information includes U.S. Census data on the number and types of residents, Data Axle data on numbers and types of employees, county parcel values, HAZUS building replacement va

Qualitative Mineral Potential Map of Tungsten Skarn in the Yukon-Tanana Uplands, Eastern Alaska, USA, 2021

This data release supports the paper titled, "Tungsten skarn potential of the Yukon-Tanana Uplands, Eastern Alaska, USA-A mineral resource assessment", published via open-access license in the Journal of Geochemical Exploration and available at: https://doi.org/10.1016/j.gexplo.2020.106700. The data release includes GIS data that map potential for tungsten skarn mineralization in permissive tracts

MODFLOW-NWT model for extending the capture map concept to estimate discrete and risk-based streamflow depletion potential

A previously developed groundwater flow model (https://doi.org/10.5066/P9051RUT) was slightly modified to estimate the risk-based discrete relation between groundwater extraction and surface-water/groundwater exchange. Previously, the concept of a ``capture map'' has been put forward as a means to effectively summarize this relation for decision-making consumption. While capture maps have enjoye

Debris-flow and Flood Video Files, Chalk Cliffs, Colorado, USA, 2016

Chalk Cliffs located 8 miles southwest of Buena Vista, Colorado, is one of the most active debris-flow areas in the state (U.S. Geological Survey). Three stations were set up at Chalk Cliffs which are located sequentially along a channel draining the 0.3 km2 study area. These stations are equipped with rain gauges, laser distance meters, and data loggers to record rainfall and stage data (Kean, et

Body Composition of Bar-tailed Godwits (Limosa lapponica)

These data are in one table with measures of the external morphology and internal organ and muscle groups collected from Bar-tailed Godwits.

Average tree regrowth time of CONUS from 1985 to 2017

We developed a 30-m spatial resolution forest regrowth time map for CONUS over 1985–2017. This map is the first attempt, as far as we know, to quantify tree regrowth rate at a national extent in the United States. The method used all available Landsat images to detect disturbances over forest lands and classify grass/shrub to tree class transitions on an annual basis. The average regrowth time was

MODFLOW-NWT model for risk-based decision-support groundwater modeling for the lower San Antonio River Basin, Texas, USA

A MODFLOW-NWT groundwater/surface-water model was developed to evaluate the responses of low-flow conditions and groundwater levels within the lower San Antonio River Basin, Texas, USA under conditions of reduced recharge and increased groundwater withdrawals. There was concern that decreased recharge and increased groundwater withdrawals may adversely affect streamflow and groundwater levels. His

Point Sampling Data for Eelgrass (Zostera marina) and Seaweed Distribution and Abundance in Bays Adjacent to the Togiak National Wildlife Refuge, Alaska, 2008-2010

These data are in six tables relating to surveys of eelgrass beds in three bays adjacent to Togiak National Wildlife Refuge, in southwestern Alaska. The tables provide environmental conditions, eelgrass abundance, distribution, and measurements used to estimate overall biomass.
