Data Releases

The data collected and the techniques used by USGS scientists should conform to or reference national and international standards and protocols if they exist and when they are relevant and appropriate. For datasets of a given type, and if national or international metadata standards exist, the data are indexed with metadata that facilitates access and integration.

Water chemistry data from the Big Creek and Monumental Creek tributaries of the Lower Middle Fork Salmon River, Idaho, 2021

This USGS data release evaluates the impact of historical mining sites on water quality using samples collected in late July 2021 from Big Creek tributaries Coin Creek, Smith Creek, and Monumental Creek in Valley County, Idaho. These data were collected to support a fisheries mining impact assessment in the Middle Fork Salmon River. Specific conductance, pH, and stream temperature were measured in

Whole rock geochemistry data from the Ordovician Bronson Hill arc and Silurian and Devonian Connecticut Valley - Gaspé trough, Vermont and New Hampshire

This data release includes whole rock (WR) geochemical data for 94 samples. Whole rock geochemistry data were analyzed at Actlabs in Ancaster, Ontario, Canada. Rock samples were collected by Peter Valley, Greg Walsh, Arthur Merschat, and Ryan McAleer. The whole rock geochemistry data characterize the composition of mapped meta-igneous rocks in eastern Vermont and western New Hampshire, USA. The da

High-Water Mark Elevations in Upstate New York from Flash Flooding during July 9-10, 2023

This data release contains results of a high-water mark survey across Upstate New York following flash flooding during July 9-10, 2023. The survey was conducted between July 12 and September 20, 2023 by U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) personnel, and is based on surveyed elevations of mud, debris, and seed lines (Koenig and others, 2016) left by the flooding. Real-time and static Global Navigation Sa

Microsatellite genotypes and metadata for white-tailed deer samples from the Mid-Atlantic region of USA

Dataset containing information for white-tailed deer samples from Ohio, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia and New York, genotyped for 11 microsatellites markers. Marker OvirQ should not be used as it presents alleles inconsistent with reported pattern, with some alleles separated by only 1 base pair and inconsistent between runs. Projected coordinates representing sampling location are in a user-de

Data supporting the construction of the Three-Dimensional Geologic Map and Geology-based Seismic Velocity Model of the Sacramento-San Joaquin River Delta and surrounding region, California

This report includes the previously unpublished primary and derivative data sets that underpin the construction of the three dimensional (3D) geologic map of the upper part of the Earth's crust beneath the Sacramento-San Joaquin River Delta, California. The primary data is X,Y,Z locations of stratigraphic horizons and, to a much lesser extent, geologic structures where penetrated by oil and gas we

Benthic foraminifer census data from the Yorktown Formation, near Rushmere, VA

Data consist of census counts of Pliocene benthic foraminifera from the lectostratotype of the Yorktown Formation at Rushmere, Viriginia, and from Pipsico Boy Scout Camp, Spring Grove, Virginia. In total, counts of individuals from 45 samples and 67 species are included. Counts for planktic foraminifera, foraminiferal fragments, and poorly persevered specimens are also included in the data.

Model code to build and run an integrated population model for the endangered Cape Sable Seaside Sparrow

The Cape Sable Seaside Sparrow (CSSS; Ammospiza maritima mirabilis) is an endangered species that has experienced population declines of more than 60% since the 1990s. The CSSS is restricted in geographic extent to a relatively small area of remaining marl prairie in the southern Florida Everglades and remains in six subpopulation areas (named A-F). There has been over two decades of field researc

Estimates of Baseflow, Runoff, and Groundwater Recharge Based on Streamflow-Hydrograph Methods: Pennsylvania

The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) in cooperation with the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, Bureau of Geological Survey, estimated groundwater recharge by automated streamflow-hydrograph methods for watersheds throughout Pennsylvania. These data serve as an update to previous estimates of groundwater recharge described in Risser and others (2005). The current analysis

Half-meter topobathymetric elevation model and elevation-area-volume tables for Great Salt Lake, Utah, 2002-2016

This topobathymetric elevation dataset of Great Salt Lake includes an assimilated topobathymetric raster comprising interpolated bathymetry from 2005 and 2006 (Baskin, 2005; Baskin, 2006) and QL1 and QL2 lidar from 2016 (Utah Geospatial Resource Center, 2016). The bathymetric dataset was originally published as contour maps. The contours were interpolated to develop a digital elevation model that

Field observations of landslides and related materials following Hurricane Maria, Puerto Rico

During September 2017, Hurricane Maria caused widespread landsliding throughout mountainous regions of Puerto Rico, with more than 71,000 landslides being subsequently identified from aerial imagery (Hughes et al., 2019). Most landslides apparently mobilized as debris flows and occurred within soil (unconsolidated material overlying saprolite and bedrock) and saprolite overlying less-weathered roc

Harlequin Duck Genetic Data, North America, Greenland, and Iceland, 1952-2001

This data package is comprised of three tables with data from wintering Harlequin Ducks (Histrionicus histrionicus) from Alaska, British Columbia, Washington, Maine, Greenland, and Iceland. The first table contains available allele sizes for 7 microsatellite loci and mtDNA control region haplotypes. The second table contains the mtDNA control region sequences used to assign haplotypes. The third t
