Data Releases

The data collected and the techniques used by USGS scientists should conform to or reference national and international standards and protocols if they exist and when they are relevant and appropriate. For datasets of a given type, and if national or international metadata standards exist, the data are indexed with metadata that facilitates access and integration.

Digital data from previous USGS hydrogeologic studies of the Cambrian-Ordovician aquifer system in the northern Midwest, United States

This dataset captures in digital form previously published maps showing the inferred extent and subsurface elevation of several Paleozoic consolidated rock units in the northern Midwest of the United States. Data released here were published as figures within a U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) Water Mission Area report documenting results from a study of the regional hydrogeology and ground-water qua

Full-resolution photomosaics of trench walls from the 2006 paleoseismic study of the San Andreas Fault at Coachella, California

The Coachella paleoseismic site is located on the San Andreas Fault along the northeast edge of the Coachella Valley in southern California, southwest of the intersection of Dillon Road and Avenue 44. In 2006, three benched trenches were excavated across the fault zone as part of an Alquist-Priolo fault investigation study by a private geotechnical firm (see APSI_003361 at https://maps.conservatio

Application amount and total phosphorus content for ice control products applied at Mitchell International Airport in Milwaukee, Wisconsin from 2015 - 2021

A record of aircraft and pavement ice control products applied at Mitchell International Airport in Milwaukee, WI during water years 2015 - 2021, with an accompanying chemical analysis of the phosphorus content and chemical oxygen demand of those products.

GIS Data for Geologic and Structure Map of the Choteau 1 x 2 Degree Quadrangle, Western Montana

The data release for the geologic and structure map of the Choteau 1 x 2 degree quadrangle, western Montana, is a Geologic Map Schema (GeMS)-compliant version that updates the GIS files for the geologic map published in U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) Miscellaneous Investigations Series Map I-1300 (Mudge and others, 2001). The updated digital data present the attribute tables and geospatial features

Black Bayou Hydrologic Restoration (CS-27): 2018 land-water classification

The Louisiana State Legislature created the Coastal Wetlands Planning, Protection and Restoration Act (CWPPRA) in order to conserve, restore, create and enhance Louisiana's coastal wetlands. The wetland restoration plans developed pursuant to these acts specifically require an evaluation of the effectiveness of each coastal wetlands restoration project in achieving long-term solutions to arresting

Zircon U-Pb geochronology and whole rock geochemistry for pre-ignimbrite volcanoes within the San Juan locus of the mid-Cenozoic Southern Rocky Mountain volcanic field, Colorado

This U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) data release provides whole rock major, minor, and trace element geochemical data and zircon U-Pb geochronology and trace element concentrations for samples from pre-ignimbrite volcanoes within the San Juan locus of the mid-Cenozoic Southern Rocky Mountain volcanic field, Colorado. Samples were collected in order to constrain the evolution of the pre-ignimbrite m

Streamflow, Dissolved Organic Carbon, and Nitrate Input Datasets and Model Results Using the Weighted Regressions on Time, Discharge, and Season (WRTDS) Model for Buck Creek Watersheds, Adirondack Park, New York, 2001 to 2021

This data release supports an analysis of changes in dissolved organic carbon (DOC) and nitrate concentrations in Buck Creek watershed near Inlet, New York 2001 to 2021. The Buck Creek watershed is a 310-hectare forested watershed that is recovering from acidic deposition within the Adirondack region. The data release includes pre-processed model inputs and model outputs for the Weighted Regressio

Mercury Stable Isotope Measurements in Water and Suspended Particulate Matter from Snake River Tributaries in Idaho and Oregon, USA

This study was designed to examine mercury (Hg) stable isotope values in filtered water and suspended particulate matter from tributaries to the Snake River located in Oregon and Idaho. Water samples were collected from 21 tributary sites representing a range of watershed land use types (e.g., agriculture, forest, etc.) within the Snake River Basin. In 2018, water samples were collected at tributa

Hydrological, Chemical, and Biological Characterization of the Snake River and Associated Tributaries and Irrigation Drains from River Mile 448 to 346, 2022

This dataset includes field hydrologic measurements and laboratory analyses of surface and pore waters, sediments, benthic plants/biofilms, and biota along the Middle Snake River upgradient of the Hells Canyon Complex. The study region for this work focuses on a section of the Snake River heavily utilized for agriculture, with complex systems of irrigation diversion and return drainage, spanning 1

Tracking Data for Buff-breasted Sandpipers (Calidris subruficollis)

This metadata document describes the data contained in the "processedData" folder of this data package. This data package contains all data collected from 130 Argos and Argos-linked GPS satellite transmitters attached to Buff-breasted Sandpipers at breeding sites in Alaska, migratory stopovers in Texas, and wintering areas in Brazil, Argentina, and Uruguay, 2016-2018. The 130 deployed tags were co

Land Cover Basin Characteristics Rasters from NLCD 2019 for South Carolina StreamStats

In cooperation with the South Carolina Department of Transportation, the U.S. Geological Survey calculated four land cover basin characteristics rasters from the National Land Cover Database (NLCD) 2019 as part of updating the South Carolina StreamStats application. These datasets are raster representations of impervious surface, developed, forested, and storage land cover attributes within the So

Community Exposure in U.S. California to Future Shoreline Change Hazards, reference year 2020

Socioeconomic impact estimates of community exposure to shoreline change hazards are presented for communities along the coast of California, U.S. The provided data were generated using the Hazard Exposure Reporting and Analytics (HERA) web application (www.usgs.gov/apps/hera/). HERA uses geospatial analysis of socioeconomic indicators (population, economic, land cover, and infrastructure) in co
