MODFLOW 6 models used to simulate the long-term average surficial groundwater system for the contiguous United States

Seventy-five steady state two-dimensional groundwater flow (MODFLOW-6) models of the shallow groundwater system were developed to map depth to water and estimate effective surficial transmissivity for the contiguous United States (CONUS). The models were driven by spatially-distributed recharge estimated by Reitz et al. using average water budget information for 1985-2015 and calibrated against lo

MODFLOW-2005 and MODPATH6 models used to simulate groundwater flow and nitrate transport in two tributaries to the Upper Chester River, Maryland

A previously developed steady state three-dimensional groundwater flow (MODFLOW-2005) and advective transport (MODPATH6) model was used to examine subsurface nitrate transport to wells and receiving streams in two subcatchments contributing to the Upper Chester River, Maryland. Multiple scenarios of flow and transport parameter fields (recharge, hydraulic conductivity, and porosity) were

Geochemical data for the Cenomanian-Turonian Eagle Ford Group recorded in the USGS Gulf Coast 3 (GC-3) drill core of southwest Texas

The Upper Cretaceous Eagle Ford Group in southwest Texas represents a geologic record of the Cenomanian-Turonian period in the southern Western Interior Seaway (WIS) of North America prior to and during the Oceanic Anoxic Event 2 (OAE-2). Geochemical data generated and compiled here were collected on core samples taken from a wellbore near Del Rio, TX for the purpose of better characterizing the p

Abundance, Biomass, and Density Data for Fishes and Amphipods in Prairie Pothole Region Wetlands in 2019 and 2020

This dataset includes information from 59 prairie pothole wetlands in Minnesota, collected in 2019 and 2020. The data includes wetland characteristics (e.g., size, depth, plant biomass, and water quality), multiple fish metrics, and multiple amphipod metrics. The amphipod species include Gammarus lacustris and Hyalella azteca. There are 22 species of fish recorded.

Sea-level rise and high tide flooding inundation probability and depth statistics at De Soto National Memorial, Florida

This dataset includes elevation-based probability and depth statistics for estimating inundation under various sea-level rise and high tide flooding scenarios in and around the National Park Service’s De Soto National Memorial. These datasets were developed using 1-m digital elevation model (DEM) from the 3D Elevation program. This data release includes results from analyses of two local sea-level

Meteorological Database, Argonne National Laboratory, Illinois

This data release (DR) is the update of the U.S. Geological Survey - ScienceBase data release by Bera (2023), with the processed data through September 30, 2023. Values for the variables and flags in the text files do not exactly match with the values in the ARGN22.wdm file during the period 01/01/1948 – 09/30/2022. ARGN22.wdm (Bera, 2023) is updated with the correct meteorological data and flag f

Abandoned Mine Land (AML) Geochemical data: Stansbury Mountains, Utah

The United States Geological Survey (USGS) collected a total of 63 samples of surficial sediment from abandoned mine wastepiles, ephemeral channels, nearby outcrops, and background areas representative of the undisturbed lithology within the Free Coinage and Third Term mining districts in the Stansbury Mountains (Krahulec, 2018). The samples were sieved to obtain the less than 177 micron fraction.

USGS National and Global Oil and Gas Assessment Project–West-Central Coastal Province (Africa) Postsalt Reservoirs: Assessment Unit Boundaries, Assessment Input Data, and Fact Sheet Data Tables

This data release contains the boundaries of assessment units, assessment input data, and resulting fact sheet data tables for the assessment of undiscovered oil and gas resources in the West-Central Coastal Province postsalt reservoirs of Africa. The Assessment Unit is the fundamental unit used in the National and Global Oil and Gas Assessment Project for the assessment of undiscovered oil and ga

Greater Sage Grouse Encounter Histories in Modoc County, California 2019 - 2021

The greater sage-grouse (Centrocercus urophasianus: hereafter; sage-grouse) population in Modoc County California is geographically isolated and has been subsidized by translocation to prevent inbreeding depression since 2005. Despite significant efforts to increase the population through translocations and habitat improvement by cutting encroaching western juniper (Juniperus occidentalis), only a

Argon Data for samples from the Elkhead and Rabbit Ears Mountains, northern Colorado, USA

This dataset accompanies the planned publication “Mantle Melting in Regions of Thick Continental Lithosphere-Examples from Late Cretaceous and Younger Volcanic Rocks, Southern Rocky Mountains, Colorado” in the journal Geosphere. The dataset includes 40Ar/39Ar data for 19 samples from the Rabbit Ears volcanic field and from the Elkhead Mountains in northcentral Colorado, USA. Samples were collected

Maps of the USGS Climate Adaptation Science Centers (May 2024)

The Climate Adaptation Science Centers (CASCs) partner with natural and cultural resource managers, tribes and indigenous communities, and university researchers to provide science that helps fish, wildlife, ecosystems, and the communities they support adapt to climate change. The CASCs provide managers and stakeholders with information and decision-making tools to respond to the effects of climat
