Data Releases

The data collected and the techniques used by USGS scientists should conform to or reference national and international standards and protocols if they exist and when they are relevant and appropriate. For datasets of a given type, and if national or international metadata standards exist, the data are indexed with metadata that facilitates access and integration.

Surface-water characteristics and phytoplankton taxonomy in selected north Texas reservoirs using biological, hyperspectral, and water-quality methods, 2019-2020

A study to develop an earth observation monitoring system to detect harmful algal bloom (HABs) presence within selected north Texas reservoirs using satellite imagery was conducted by the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS). This data release provides the data collected for this study including site locations, water-quality, phytoplankton, and hyperspectral water surface reflectance data. Data were coll

Exceedance Probability and Predictor Data for Uranium and Radon concentrations in New Hampshire Groundwater

Statewide maps of the probability of exceeding a given concentration of either uranium (U) or radon (Rn) in New Hampshire groundwater (represented as statewide rasters) are the product of statistical analyses and are available here. The dependent variables in these statistical models were either 1) the natural log of Rn concentrations or 2) a dichotomous variable indicating the exceedance of 1 mic

Results of algal toxin testing from wildlife mortality submissions to the National Wildlife Health Center

This data set is composed of all animals received as a diagnostic submission to the USGS National Wildlife Health Center for which algal toxin testing was performed from November 1998 to January 2018. Birds with a histologic diagnosis of avian vacuolar myelinopathy, a disease caused by the algal toxin aetokthonotoxin, are also included. Algal toxins tested for include brevetoxin, cylindrospermopsi

Cherokee coal bed drill hole data from the Fort Union Formation in the Little Snake River coal field and Red Desert Area, Wyoming

The data set contains geologic and mining engineering data from drill holes penetrating through the Cherokee coal bed interval of the Overland Member of the Paleocene Fort Union Formation in the Little Snake River coal field and Red Desert area in south-central Wyoming.

USGS National and Global Oil and Gas Assessment Project - Resource Allocations for the BLM Carlsbad Planning Area

The U.S. Geological Survey Central Energy Science Center (CERSC) was asked to provide allocations of oil and gas resources and numbers of potential wells calculated from these allocated resources for the BLM Carlsbad Planning Area in New Mexico. The resource allocations were based on the most current USGS assessment of continuous (unconventional) oil and gas resources within eleven geologically de

Enhanced Terrain Imagery of the Sunbury 30 x 60 Minute Quadrangle from Lidar-Derived Elevation Models at 3-Meter Resolution

This imagery dataset consists of 3-meter resolution, lidar-derived imagery of the Sunbury 30 x 60 minute quadrangle Pennsylvania. It also covers part of the Delaware River Basin. The source data used to construct this imagery consists of 1-meter and 3-meter resolution Lidar-derived digital elevation models (DEMs). The lidar source data were compiled from different acquisitions published between 20

Data Release - Geologic map of the central Upper Peninsula, Michigan

This dataset supports the publication "Geophysical insights into Paleoproterozoic tectonics along the southern margin of the Superior Province, central Upper Peninsula, Michigan, USA." At a 1:100,000 scale, these data are in a geologic database in the Geologic Map Schema (GeMS) which includes spatial feature classes and non-spatial tables that contain the geologic information presented in figure 8

U-Pb Isotopic Data and Ages of Detrital Zircon and Volcanic Zircon Grains from the Torok and Nanushuk Formations, Arctic Alaska, 2021

This dataset contains U-Pb isotopic data and associated ages of zircon grains from 27 sedimentary samples and one volcanic ash sample from the Cretaceous Torok and Nanushuk Formations. Seven samples were collected from outcrop and 21 samples were collected from archived core material from oil exploration wells on the North Slope of Arctic Alaska. Zircon grains were analyzed at the University of Ca

Target-Chemical Concentration Results for Assessment of Mixed-Organic/Inorganic Chemical and Biological Exposures in North Dakota and South Dakota Tapwater, 2019

Concentration and quality assurance results for organic compounds and bioassay endocrine activity results analyzed at the U.S. Geological Survey National Water Quality Laboratory, Denver, Colorado, Organic Chemistry Research Laboratory, Sacramento, California, the Organic Geochemistry Research Laboratory, Lawrence, Kansas, and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, Office of Research and Develo

Inorganic Concentration Results for Assessment of Mixed Organic/Inorganic Chemical and Biological Exposures in North Dakota and South Dakota Tapwater, 2019

This data set reports results for inorganic constituents analyzed at the Redox Chemistry Laboratory in Boulder, Colorado, for the 2019 tapwater study conducted in North Dakota and South Dakota, USA. This project is part of the U.S. Geological Survey, Ecosystems Mission Area, Environmental Health Water and Wastewater Infrastructure Program.

Underwater temperature on off-shore coral reefs of the Florida Keys, U.S.A.

The USGS Coral Reef Ecosystems Studies project provides science that helps resource managers tasked with the stewardship of coral reef resources. Coral reef organisms are very sensitive to high and low water-temperature extremes. It is critical to precisely know water temperatures experienced by corals and associated plants and animals that live in the dynamic, nearshore environment to document th

Dataset for mineral resource inventory of North Dakota

This data release contains the geospatial resources that were used by the USGS to compile the mineral resource inventory for the state of North Dakota, developed by the Mineral Resource Program (MRP) staff of the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) at the request of the Bureau of Land Management (BLM). The mineral resources inventory was published as a USGS open-file report and can be accessed at https:
