Data Releases

The data collected and the techniques used by USGS scientists should conform to or reference national and international standards and protocols if they exist and when they are relevant and appropriate. For datasets of a given type, and if national or international metadata standards exist, the data are indexed with metadata that facilitates access and integration.

Benthic macroinvertebrate tailwater data in the Colorado River Basin, 2013 & 2015

These benthic macroinvertebrate data and associated site characteristics were compiled for the purpose of exploring any relationships between large dams in the Colorado River Basin, their flow management and geographical context, and their associated downstream benthic macroinvertebrate communities. The goal of the analyses based upon these data was to understand how dam conditions, specifically h

Water quality and discharge data from draining mine tunnels near Silverton, Colorado 1993-2015

The American Tunnel, the Black Hawk mine, the Gold King mine, the Mogul mine, and the Red and Bonita mine are located in the Cement Creek watershed, tributary to the upper Animas River near Silverton, Colorado. All five sites have tunnels that drain groundwater from abandoned underground mine workings to the surface. This draining water has elevated concentrations of metals and degrades water qual

Meteorological Database, Argonne National Laboratory, Illinois, January 1, 1948 - September 30, 2020

This data release is the update of the U.S. Geological Survey - ScienceBase data release by Bera (2020), with the processed data through September 30, 2020. The primary data for water year 2020 (a water year is the 12-month period, October 1 through September 30, in which it ends) is downloaded from the Argonne National Laboratory (ANL) (Argonne National Laboratory, 2020) and is processed followin

Data supporting the 2018 geomorphic survey of North Fork Eagle Creek, New Mexico

This U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) data release contains results from the 2018 geomorphic survey of North Fork Eagle Creek, New Mexico. The 2018 geomorphic survey was conducted by the USGS, in cooperation with the Village of Ruidoso, New Mexico, and is the second in a planned series of five annual geomorphic surveys of the stream reach located between the North Fork Eagle Creek near Alto, New Mexi

Ground-based time-domain electromagnetic data and resistivity models near Manistee National Forest, Michigan, 2020

Ground-based transient electromagnetic (TEM) data were acquired by the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) in selected locations near Manistee National Forest, Michigan, to define the resistivity structure of the subsurface. Data were acquired using the ABEM WalkTEM system (Guideline Geo Ab, Sundbyberg, Sweden). TEM data were processed and numerically inverted to derive one-dimensional resistivity stru

GIS Data for Geologic Map of the Challis 1 x 2 Degrees Quadrangle, Idaho

The data release for the geologic map of the Challis 1 x 2 degrees quadrangle, Idaho, is a Geologic Map Schema (GeMS)-compliant version that updates the GIS files for the geologic map published in U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) Miscellaneous Investigations I-1819 (Fisher and others, 1992). The updated digital data present the attribute tables and geospatial features (points, lines and polygons) in

GIS Data (ver. 2) for Geologic Terranes of the Hailey 1 x 2 Degrees Quadrangle and the Western Part of the Idaho Falls 1 x 2 Degrees Quadrangle, South-Central Idaho

The data release for the geologic terranes of the Hailey 1 x 2 degrees quadrangle and the western part of the Idaho Falls 1 x 2 degrees quadrangle, south-central Idaho is a Geologic Map Schema (GeMS)-compliant version that updates the GIS files for the geologic map published in U.S. Geologic Survey (USGS) Bulletin 2064-A (Worl and Johnson, 1995). The updated digital data present the attribute tabl

Louisiana's Coastwide Reference Monitoring System (CRMS) elevation data

Wetland restoration efforts conducted by the Coastal Wetlands Planning, Protection and Restoration Act (CWPPRA) in Louisiana rely on monitoring efforts to determine the efficacy of these efforts. The Coastwide Reference Monitoring System (CRMS) was developed to assist in a multiple-reference approach that uses aspects of hydrogeomorphic functional assessments and probabilistic sampling for monitor

Apatite and zircon fission track data from the western Brooks Range of Arctic Alaska

The attached data are apatite and zircon fission track measurements from rock samples collected across the western Brooks Range. Table 1 contains descriptive information on each sample. Tables 2a, 2b, 2c, 2d and 2e contain single grain, apatite fission track age data for samples from each of five datasets that comprise the overall apatite fission track age dataset. Tables 3a, 3b, 3c, and 3d contai

Field observation of current velocities (2018) in Gandy?s Beach, New Jersey with living shoreline structures

This dataset contains measured (interval=20 minutes) current velocity during February 1 to April 4, 2018 at seven locations along the Gandy's Beach, New Jersey in upper Delaware Bay. These data were used for the analysis of current pattern dynamics along the coast in upper Delaware Bay with oyster-reef based living shoreline structure for shoreline protection.

Ground motion Fourier and response spectra from Utah earthquakes, 2010--2020

Records from strong motion stations were downloaded from FDSN and CESMD data centers with a search radius of approximately 220 km from Salt Lake City. Waveforms were processed to deconvolve instrument response and for baseline corrections. Signal was separated from noise using an automated P-wave picker. The signal was then windowed to include the mean plus two standard deviations of the signal. A

Survival, viral load and neutralizing antibodies in steelhead trout and cell cultures exposed to infectious hematopoietic necrosis virus (IHNV) at 3 temperatures

Environmental variation has important effects on host-pathogen interactions, affecting large-scale ecological processes such as the severity and frequency of epidemics. However, less is known about how the environment modulates viral fitness traits and within host infection processes. Viral genetic variation, fish host immune response and environmental parameters such as temperature have been repo
