Data Releases

The data collected and the techniques used by USGS scientists should conform to or reference national and international standards and protocols if they exist and when they are relevant and appropriate. For datasets of a given type, and if national or international metadata standards exist, the data are indexed with metadata that facilitates access and integration.

Groundwater data, predictor variables, and rasters used for predicting redox conditions in the glacial aquifer, northern continental United States

This data release contains input data used in model development and TIF raster files used to predict the probability of low dissolved oxygen (DO) and high dissolved iron (Fe) in groundwater within the glacial aquifer system in the northern continental United States. Input data include measured DO and Fe concentrations at groundwater wells, and associated predictor variable data. The probability of

Hawaii Island insect response to koa moth (Scotorythra paludicola) outbreak, 2013-2014

This data release includes metadata and tabular data that document the responses of koa moths and other insects to changes in habitat conditions before and after koa (Acacia koa) defoliation by koa moth caterpillars (Scotorythra paludicola) at Hakalau Forest National Wildlife Refuge during 2013-2014. Data sets document changes in (1) koa moth abundance, (2) koa moth caterpillar abundance, (3) koa

Detection of Seagrass Pathogens using Environmental DNA (eDNA), North Pacific, 2016-Present

This data set is comprised of one table with sampling information and NCBI BioProject accession numbers for sequence information of this amplicon-based study targeting Labyrinthula, Phytophthora, and Halophytophthora of known pathogenic and non-pathogenic [to eelgrass (Zostera marina)] strains from eDNA samples. eDNA samples included water, sediment, and eelgrass from Notsuke Wan (Cove) Japan, Saf

Estimated Annual Recharge to the Edwards Aquifer in the San Antonio Area, by Stream Basin or Ungaged Area, 1934 - 2020

The Edwards aquifer in south-central Texas is one of the most permeable and productive aquifers in the United States and is the major source of public water supply for Bexar, Comal, Hays, Medina, and Uvalde Counties. The Edwards aquifer also supplies large quantities of water to agriculture, business, and industry in the region. The major artesian springs of the Edwards aquifer provide water for r

2017 Zooplankton Data from Lake Huron

This data release includes zooplankton data collected with a 64-micron mesh net from 9 transects in Lake Huron between April and August 2017. At each transect, data were collected at up to three sites, ranging in bottom depths from 18 to 82 m. The volume sampled at each site was estimated with a flowmeter. Micro- and macro- crustaceans were identified, enumerated, and measured using a dissecting o

Data from USGS National Water Quality Laboratory methods used to calculate and compare detection limits estimated using single- and multi-concentration spike-based and blank-based procedures

This dataset provides the expected and determined concentrations of selected inorganic and organic analytes for spiked reagent-water samples (calibration standards and limit of quantitation standards) that were used to calculate detection limits by using the United States Environmental Protection Agency's (USEPA) Method Detection Limit (MDL) version 1.11 or 2.0 procedures, ASTM International's Wit

Domoic acid and saxitoxin in seabirds from California and Rhode Island 2015-2017

As harmful algal blooms (HABs) increase in magnitude and duration worldwide, they are becoming an expanding threat to marine wildlife. Over the past decade, domoic acid (DA) and saxitoxin (STX) have been increasingly problematic bicoastally in the United States. We investigated pooled seabird mortality data from opportunistic sampling events between 2007-2018, across three states, to examine the p

Modeled nutrient and sediment concentrations from major rivers in Illinois based on continuous monitoring from October 1, 2015, through September 30, 2020

During water years 2016-2020, the U.S. Geological Survey, in cooperation with the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency, operated continuous monitoring stations on eight of the major rivers in Illinois to better quantify nutrient and sediment loadings from the State of Illinois to the Mississippi River. This data release presents estimates of daily nitrate, suspended sediment, and phosphorus co

Basin Characterization Model (BCMv8) monthly recharge and runoff for the Anza-Cahuilla Groundwater Basin, California

This dataset provides monthly and average annual long-term estimates (water years 1981-2010) of gridded recharge and runoff from water years 1896-2018 for the Anza-Cahuilla Groundwater Basin in southern California. Gridded data are available in flat ASCII files (*.asc) in the NAD83 California Teale Albers projection. This dataset also includes streamflow calibration basins and stations as shape fi

Northern tamarisk beetle impact and classification maps, Grand Canyon National Park, Arizona

These data are satellite image-derived, classification maps of tamarisk (Tamarisk spp.) along the Colorado River in Grand Canyon National Park from river km 315 to 363, approximately from Parashant Canyon to Diamond Creek tributaries. The classification maps are published in TIF raster format. Two maps are published: 1) a classification of healthy, defoliated, and tamarisk canopy dieback from the

Humpback chub spring and fall capture histories in the Little Colorado River, 2009-2019

These data were compiled to examine rates of skipped migration in adult humpback chub that spawn in the Little Colorado River (LCR). These data include mark-recapture information from the lower 13.56 kilometers of the LCR and from the Colorado River, from river kilometer 105.5-145.7 downstream of Glen Canyon Dam. Data also include detections from a multiplexer array (MUX) that is located in the LC

Mercury Concentrations and Stable Isotopes in Riparian Songbirds and Invertebrates from the Willamette River, Oregon, 2013

This dataset includes bird species, invertebrate order and family, sample identification codes, collection date, latitude, longitude, site name, bird age, invertebrate life stage, invertebrate trophic group, carbon and nitrogen stable isotopes in birds and invertebrates, total mercury concentrations in bird blood, and methylmercury concentrations in composite invertebrates.
