Data Releases

The data collected and the techniques used by USGS scientists should conform to or reference national and international standards and protocols if they exist and when they are relevant and appropriate. For datasets of a given type, and if national or international metadata standards exist, the data are indexed with metadata that facilitates access and integration.

Influence of wildfire and beetle-caused canopy mortality on water temperature regimes in cutthroat trout streams, Rocky Mountain National Park, CO

This dataset was collected to build on past and ongoing monitoring and research efforts within Colorado's Rocky Mountain National Park (RMNP). Specifically, the data were collected to test the hypothesis that reductions in canopy cover due to natural disturbances (i.e. wildfire and beetle kill) result in increases in water temperature, or the longitudinal thermal gradient of a stream. Data values

Water-level data, selected water-quality data, and the potentiometric dataset for the Mississippi River Valley alluvial aquifer in eastern Arkansas, spring 2014

The alluvial aquifer of the Mississippi embayment lies within a syncline plunging south towards the Gulf of Mexico with the axis of the syncline roughly following the Mississippi River (Cushing and others, 1964, Hart and others, 2008). The trough of the syncline is comprised of alluvial and terrace deposits of Quaternary age (Ackerman, 1996). A potentiometric-surface map of the Mississippi River V

Compositional data on gases collected at fumaroles, hot springs, and gas vents across the Long Valley Caldera, California, 1994 ? 2020

The Long Valley Caldera in eastern California formed about 760,000 years ago following the eruption of ~600 km3 of high-silica rhyolite. The Long Valley volcanic-hydrothermal system contains sufficient heat to support the Casa Diablo binary geothermal power plant sited on the margin of the resurgent dome. Present day volcanic activity is evidenced by periods of seismicity and deformation and the p

USGS National and Global Oil and Gas Assessment Project - San Juan Basin Province, Fruitland Total Petroleum System Assessment Units and Input Data Forms

This data release contains the boundaries of assessment units and input data for the assessment of gas resources in the Fruitland Total Petroleum System of New Mexico and Colorado. The Assessment Unit is the fundamental unit used in the National Assessment Project for the assessment of undiscovered oil and gas resources. The Assessment Unit is defined within the context of the higher-level Total P

USGS National and Global Oil and Gas Assessment Project - San Juan Basin Province, Mancos-Menefee Composite Total Petroleum System and underlying Todilto Total Petroleum System Assessment Units and Input Data Forms

This data release contains the boundaries of assessment units and input data for the assessment of Oil and Gas Resources in the Mancos-Menefee Composite and Underlying Todilto Total Petroleum Systems of New Mexico and Colorado. The Assessment Unit is the fundamental unit used in the National Assessment Project for the assessment of undiscovered oil and gas resources. The Assessment Unit is defined

Capture-recapture, disease and covariate data for boreal toads from Blackrock Wyoming 2019

We investigated population dynamics in boreal toads relative to abiotic (fall temperatures and snowpack -the covariates provided here) and biotic (the abundance of another anuran host, data provide here) characteristics of the local environment at 6 sites in Wyoming, USA. We used capture-recapture data (i.e., 1 or 0, provided here) and a robust design multi-state model framework that incorporates d

Datasets of Groundwater-Quality and Select Quality-Control Data from the National Water-Quality Assessment Project, January 2017 through December 2019

Groundwater-quality data were collected from 983 wells as part of the National Water-Quality Assessment Project of the U.S. Geological Survey National Water-Quality Program and are included in this report. The data were collected from six types of well networks: principal aquifer study networks, which are used to assess the quality of groundwater used for public water supply; land-use study networ

Supporting Data for Estimating Selected Low-Flow Frequency Statistics and Mean Annual Flow for Ungaged Locations on Streams in Alabama (ver. 1.1, November 2020)

Streamflow data and statistics are vitally important for proper protection and management of both the water quality and water quantity of Alabama streams. Such data and statistics are available at U.S. Geological Survey streamflow-gaging stations, also referred to as streamgages or stations, but are often needed at ungaged stream locations. To address this need, the U.S. Geological Survey, in coop

Use of dye-tracing to delineate the recharge area of Manitou Cave, Alabama, towards assessing sensitive stygobiont habitat

In 2019, dye tracing investigations were conducted near Manitou Cave in Dekalb County, northeast Alabama. The purpose of the dye tracing was to delineate a recharge area for the stream in Manitou Cave, a 1.7-kilometer-long stream cave and the only known habitat for the Manitou Cavesnail (Antroribus breweri). In 2010, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service was petitioned by the Center for Biological Di

Surface Water and Porewater Chemistry of Cell 3A, Prado Wetlands, Riverside, CA, USA (2018)

The data presented here was collected at Prado Wetlands in Riverside County, CA, USA. Physical water column parameters were collected using a multprobe sonde and includes date and time of sample collection, location (inlet, outlet), temperature (degrees Celsius), pH, specific conductivity (mircoSiemens per centimeter), and dissolved oxygen (milligrams per liter). An ISCO autosampler was utilized t

Data on Flea Parasitism and Annual Re-encounters of Utah Prairie Dogs at 5 colonies on the Awapa Plateau, Utah, USA, 2013-2016

Data on flea parasitism and annual re-encounters of Utah prairie dogs at 5 colonies on the Awapa Plateau, Utah, USA, June-August 2013-2016. Utah prairie dogs were live-trapped and sampled on 5 colonies along an elevation gradient from 2,645 m to 2,873 m. Upon first capture each year, we anesthetized each prairie dog and fleas on its body and combed the prairie dog as thoroughly as possible for 30
