Data Releases

The data collected and the techniques used by USGS scientists should conform to or reference national and international standards and protocols if they exist and when they are relevant and appropriate. For datasets of a given type, and if national or international metadata standards exist, the data are indexed with metadata that facilitates access and integration.

40Ar/39Ar Isotopic Data and Ages for Rocks from the Yukon-Tanana Upland of Eastern Alaska and the Northern Aleutian Range of South-Central Alaska

This data set contains 40Ar/39Ar isotopic data and ages for rocks from the Yukon-Tanana upland of eastern Alaska and the northern Aleutian Range of south-central Alaska. The entire sample suite was collected as part of geological mapping and supporting geochemical and geochronological analysis were conducted from 2013 to 2019 by the Mineral Resources Program of the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS). L

Data for Determining Age of Barrow's Goldeneye (Bucephala islandica) from External Characteristics, Alaska and Canada, 2007-2015

These data describe an exercise in which known age and sex class of 100 Barrow's goldeneyes (Bucephala islandica), determined by expert examination bursa and plumage, was contrasted with age and sex classes estimated from photos by trained observers.

Discharge, nutrient, and suspended sediment data for selected streams in the Lake Tahoe watershed

A time series of nutrient and mean daily discharge data were used to create models of daily concentration and loads for selected streams of the Lake Tahoe watershed. A total of 15 sites have records ranging from as early as 1972 to 2017. Nutrients in the data set include nitrate, ammonium, Kjeldahl Nitrogen, orthophosphate, and total phosphorus. Total suspended sediment concentrations are also inc

Pre- and Post-Treatment Fuels and Vegetation Data from the Great Basin, 2006-2018 (ver. 2.0, September 2020)

The project was conducted to study the effects of land management options. It was conducted across a regional network of sites in sagebrush communities. Using this regional network of sites allowed us to understand the thresholds between healthy and unhealthy sagebrush communities over a broad range of conditions across the Great Basin. Sites were located in sagebrush communities threatened by che

U-Pb zircon data for: Cretaceous plutonic rocks of western Glacier Bay National Park and Preserve

In 2016, with National Park Service support, several previously undated plutons were sampled in Glacier Bay National Park and Preserve along the west side of Glacier Bay for age determinations. Geochronologic analyses were conducted to determine the ages of the plutonic rocks in the Glacier Bay area. Five samples were collected by Frederic Wilson (USGS Alaska Science Center), from Dundas Bay and G

Ecological modeling output for the Combined Operational Plan, Round 1 in the Greater Everglades, 2018-2019

Ecological models facilitate evaluation and assessment of alternative plans for restoring the Greater Everglades ecosystem. Modeling outputs were used in evaluations of alternative water control plans to be performed by the Combined Operational Plan (COP). The models used were: (1) Cape Sable Seaside Sparrow Marl Prairie Indicator in conjunction with (2) Cape Sable Seaside Sparrow Helper, (3) Flor

Potentiometric surface dataset of the Sparta-Memphis aquifer in Arkansas, January 2013 - May 2013

The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), in cooperation with the Arkansas Natural Resources Commission (ANRC), Arkansas Geological Survey, and the Union County Water Conservation Board, has monitored water levels as a part of an ongoing effort to provide information for management of the Sparta-Memphis aquifer. The USGS has produced reports, at various intervals, to describe groundwater conditions in t

Discrete water quality data supporting Herring River restoration project, Cape Cod National Seashore, 1984-2017

Staff from the Cape Cod National Seashore, National Park Service (CACO NPS) began limited water-quality data collection in the Herring River Estuary as early as 1984. In 2006 a monthly sampling program was established for 14 sites to monitor nutrient concentrations, dissolved oxygen, and other constituents. This monitoring program is ongoing and has been supplemented with data from other CACO NPS

Conterminous U.S. Air Stagnation Index, Number of Days, 2007–2016

Using the National Oceanic Atmospheric Administration’s (NOAA) Air Stagnation Index (ASI), the total number of days during 2007–2016 with atmospheric conditions conducive for stagnant air conditions in the conterminous U.S. are documented in raster format geospatial data. These data provide the number of days that would allow the temporal buildup of atmospheric pollution (NOAA, 2017). NOAA provide

National Land Cover Database (NLCD) 2016 Products (ver. 3.0, November 2023)

The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), in partnership with several federal agencies, has developed and released four National Land Cover Database (NLCD) products over the past two decades: NLCD 1992, 2001, 2006, and 2011. These products provide spatially explicit and reliable information on the Nations land cover and land cover change. To continue the legacy of NLCD and further establish a long-ter

Regional Water Table (2014) in the Mojave River and Morongo Groundwater Basins, Southwestern Mojave Desert, California (ver. 1.2, September 2020)

During 2014, the U.S. Geological Survey and other agencies made approximately 2,500 water-level measurements in the Mojave River and Morongo groundwater basins. These data document recent conditions and, when compared with previous data, changes in groundwater levels. A water-level contour map was drawn using data from about 610 wells, providing coverage for most of the basins. Twenty-four hydrogr

Laboratory data to assess the effect of nanoparticle size and natural organic matter composition on the bioavailability of platinum nanoparticles to a model freshwater invertebrate species

Data collected in a series of laboratory experiments conducted with juvenile freshwater snails (Lymnaea stagnalis) reared in the laboratory and exposed to dissolved platinum (Pt), or polyvinylpyrrolidone coated platinum nanoparticles (PtNPs) of five different nominal hydrodynamic diameters in the presence (or absence) of natural organic matter (NOM) are presented in this data release.
