Data Releases

The data collected and the techniques used by USGS scientists should conform to or reference national and international standards and protocols if they exist and when they are relevant and appropriate. For datasets of a given type, and if national or international metadata standards exist, the data are indexed with metadata that facilitates access and integration.

Daily Climate and Soil Moisture Data for the Southern Colorado Plateau Network Parks, 1980 – 2018 (ver. 1.1, November, 2023)

These data are daily climate, water balance, and soil moisture data for 270 plots in the National Park Service (NPS) Southern Colorado Plateau Network (SCPN) Inventory & Monitoring (I&M) network. Climate data was collected from a gridded, daily climate dataset, Daymet (https://daymet.ornl.gov/). Climate, alongside field-collected soils (SoilDepthsByPlot.csv) and vegetation information, were then u

Hawaiian Islands Hawaiian hoary bat samples, genome assembly, and SNP genotypes, 2009-2015

This dataset features tissue collection information, reference genome assembly, and single nucleotide polymorphisim (SNP) genotypes of 23 Hawaiian hoary bats collected across four Hawaiian Islands, Hawaii, Maui, Oahu, and Kauai. These data were collected in order to examine the phylogenetic history and patterns of genetic variation in the Hawaiian hoary bat. The raw sequencing data are deposited t

Maquoketa River Floodplain-River Connectivity 2014-2016 Data

The Maquoketa River carries some of the highest sediment and nutrient loads in the Upper Mississippi River, contributing to eutrophication and hypoxic conditions in the Mississippi River and Gulf of Mexico. Floodplains provide the ability to remove and sequester, sediments, nitrogen, phosphorus, and carbon; however effectiveness of floodplains is limited by the extent and connection of the floodpl

Effects of early life stage exposure of largemouth bass to atrazine or a model estrogen (17a-ethinylestradiol)

Largemouth base histological development and transcriptomic changes in gonad tissue after early life stage exposure to Atrazine (1-Chloro-3-ethylamino-5-isopropylamino-2,4,6-triazine) or the model estrogen 17a-ethinylestradiol.

Visual Surveys Rapid Response Saipan 2016

Nocturnal visual encounter survey data conducted by 29 searchers over 17 transects obtained during a Brown Treesnake rapid response deployment to island of Saipan in 2016. Surveys took place in the vicinity of the Saipan airport and Dandan village (ca. 15.127°N, 145.735°E) from 06 January to 13 March 2016, 6-7 nights/week but with a break in surveying from 26 January through 21 February. During Br

Airsoft electric gun evaluation on Brown Treesnakes, Guam, 2016

The data set consists of 2 spreadsheets from Airsoft Electric Gun (AEG) trials on brown treesnakes. AEG snake wound data contains AEG results from guns equipped with 0.39 gram ammunition (plastic pellets ) that were fired at dead and live snakes from distances of 4, 8, and 12 m to measure tissue-penetration depth, and noted if (a) the pellet was lodged inside the peritoneal cavity, (b) the pellet

Data to Estimate Water Use Associated with Continuous Oil and Gas Development, Permian Basin, United States, 1980-2019.

One of the largest conventional oil reservoirs in the United States, the Permian Basin, is becoming one of the world?s largest continuous oil and gas producing reservoirs. Continuous, or horizontal well drilling techniques extract oil and gas by directionally drilling and hydraulically fracturing the surrounding reservoir rock. The continuous extraction of oil and gas using hydraulic fracturing re

Thermochronologic data from the southern Stillwater Range, Nevada

This dataset contains apatite and zircon U-Th(He)data, 4He/3He thermochronologic data, and apatite fission-track data from the southern Stillwater Range, Nevada

Geochemical and geochronologic data from the Stillwater Range, Clan Alpine, and Desatoya Mountains, Nevada (ver. 3.0, December 2023)

This dataset contains argon-argon and U-Pb geochronologic data collected from igneous rocks in the Stillwater Range, Clan Alpine, and Desatoya Mountains, western Nevada, USA.

Surface Geophysical Data Used for Mapping the Top of the Dockum Group on Cannon Air Force Base in Curry County, New Mexico, 2020

The hydrogeology of the Cannon Air Force Base (AFB) in Curry County, is being investigated to better understand the mechanics of groundwater flow in the area, including the identification of preferential groundwater flow paths. Mapping the top of the Dockum Group was done to help identify potential paleochannels that may have eroded the surface of the Dockum Group and subsequently filled in with c

Organic and metal contaminants in fish tissue collected from the Buffalo River Area of Concern, 2017

Fish tissue from 159 samples collected at four locations in the Buffalo River Area of Concern in 2017 were analyzed for a wide range of analytes including Polychlorinated Biphenyls (PCBs), pesticides, polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, organochlorine and other persistent organic compounds, metals, lipid and moisture. Over 230 analytes were analyzed in the tissue samples, including 160 PCB congeners

Compilation of Time-Domain Electromagnetic Surface Geophysical Soundings, Historical Borehole Characteristics, Water Level, Water Quality and Hydraulic Properties Data Throughout Gaines, Yoakum, and Terry Counties in Texas, 1929-2019

In cooperation with the Llano Estacado Underground Water Conservation District (LEUWCD), the Sandy Land Underground Water Conservation District (SLUWCD), and the South Plains Underground Water Conservation District (SPUWCD), the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) compiled historical geophysical and geochemical data in Gaines, Yoakum, and Terry Counties, Texas, and collected additional data where gaps w
